Body colored grill surround?

What do you think of this? I only found pics, no other info.

jaak

Not really feeling it on that red car, but I have seen a couple in the past I thought looked good. One was a dark gray car, and the surround was painted the same gloss dark gray as the rest of the car, I think the other was on a Black car like yours.

On the other had I think that one would look better if the trim wasn't painted. It would break up the red some.

It's best left for the Camaros, unless it's on a triple black or all silver car.

I can't say I hate it.....it might look good on the right car.  Restomod or pro-touring.

On a custom or pro-tour in the right color maybe, but on a basically stock Charger....no...

Ummm, no. And only partially because of the piss poor masking job. At first glance, it looks like someone was either too cheap to do it right or was just clueless. You just don't mess with one of the defining features of a car. If you're going to remove the trim from the grill then remove it elsewhere also. They shaved the door handles and side markers but left all the window trim. It's fairly haphazard. The gap makes it look like something is out of place. I think it would need to be tightened up to pull off that look.

I don't mind it...might look better if it was just the trim, seeing how the bumper is still chrome.

I think on certain color combos it would be really nice.

I like it. Lost my taste for chrome a long time ago.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I can't stand chrome either but something about body colored bits like bumpers and the grill just don't look right...

sixty-niner

it looks great on the right color and done correctly.  I love the 515 GTB from pure vision.  It looks great!

I like it! I like all dodge chargers. Some better than others. As long as they are complete, and run. A new owner can always change it to the way he wants.

I've posted that car in multiple threads.  I will say; the best part is it's price  :eek2:

It looks like shit.

:iagree: :iagree: X2

Also that red 69 Charger on the magazine cover earlier in this thread, WTF!!! Along with the painted grille, that white racing stripe is hideous :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

When one chrome body part is painted and the rest are left, it instantly makes it look like a rattle can job, even if it's not.

If correctly done on a custom built Charger,  yeah it could be pulled off well.

I prefer cars that are restored to 100% stock,  but I also appreciate some very nicely done pro-touring custom rides -  for a change of pace.  :icon_smile_cool:

So if done correctly, who knows?  :shruggy:  .....I might dig it  (on the right car)  :D

I like alot actually. To me it adds a bit to the car and makes the grill stand out a little more. I dont really see how it looks ricer. I dont see any Jesus hands or Pepboys magnetic flames on the fenders so how does it look bad? I know different is scary but when its done clean it gets a more protouring race car look. but hey that my  :Twocents:

I dont really like it on the '68. But on the '69, I'd like to see some more pics. It is different, plus if your chrome is shot you could just paint it. And anything to save another $350 is ok in my book.

I don't think it looks all that bad. To each their own. A lot of time, money and effort are put into our cars, nothing wrong with doing it the way you want.

BTW, that is a sweet looking car CDR.

I did it on mine.  I had restored it correctly and when I put it on it didn't look good to me. I painted it body color and left the aluminum bright.  It's hard to see in this pic but IMO looks way better than stock.

Thanks, worked hard for that look.  Gonna have fun next weekend at the Optima Ultimate Street Car event.  That's as close as that white Camaro SS ever got.

It looks so close to the stock silver it's hard to tell the difference. The primary colors probably wouldn't look good to me in any case but yours looks good.

I just noticed that the bare metal 2000hp '68 Charger from Fast and Furious 7 has a completely black grill. Just the trim is polished as normal and it looks bad ass.
