 Hi Guys

Need advice on how to repair these runs...after using all my limited "tricks" it's still showing a faint white (I suspect air bubbles) before I started the runs were perfectly clear.
Here's what I've done so fair:
- used the ol' razor blade trick to get runs smoothed down
- Hit it with 400 grit on a paint stick...then 1000 followed by 1500 and 2000
- Buffed with cutting compound and wool pad

I have about 4 coats of clear on it but still scared to burn through the clear coat...suggestions?

Since it is a small item maybe sand whole tank & reclear whole tank. LEON.

Not the answer I wanted...but an option  :eek2:

Air bubbles in the clear is exactly right.
If you clear over them again, you'll still have air bubbles trapped under a thicker layer of clear.

Options?
A) Keep sanding CAREFULLY until they are gone. Buff/polish.
B) If the area is already sanded smooth sand the whole thing with 1000, spot refinish the runs with basecoat "blending" in the color, apply several coats of clear over the whole part. Sand/buff again.

I would try "A" first...  :icon_smile_wink:

400-1000 with nothing in between is to much.

I suggest Leon's approach- re clear.
You've never heard of a Hudson hornet ? !

- Cool tools, thanks Sardillim!
- Bill I'll go with option "A" after all I can always reclear it if it doesn't work!
- Thx Hudson...although I had good luck doing that method on a 4 runner I painted

One trick I know of and used personally is put some masking tape over the run.
Start sanding it with 400-600-800-1000 and so on.
Masking tape with protect adjacent area from being sanded and only high spots/run will be sanded

Many tricks to get rid of runs but on a small part like that, re-clear.   :yesnod:

Ooh, neat trick with the tape. I was able to take care of the run, it came out ok, can still make out some of the lil' air bubbles but it's good enough, more projects to work on  ;D

I just bought run razor, you can get them on ebay. These work great, you can get them in fine, medium, coarse as well.
