I have seen one claiming to be original but I doubt it,it possibly could have been a dealer thing,but not factory.All my literature I have collected over the year's says nothing about a 71 R/T/S/E's.
1971 Charger R/T   GY9 Dark Gold Metallic, V1Y Gold Top, GY4 Light Gold Interior- A/C, Rimblow, PW, Front Disc, AM-FM, Tach, Light Package, Slotted Tips, Trailer Tow Package(MIA)and a few other odds and ends...including a luggage rack!

It's really not possible from what I've read, which is that in 1971 the Charger SE was a separate model with a model-specific VIN, as was the Charger R/T.

WM23 = Superbee
WH23 = Charger
WP23 = Charger 500
WP29 = Charger SE
WS23 = Charger R/T

Based on that, it has to be WP in order to be an SE (or a 500), and it has to be WS in order to be an R/T.  Mutually-exclusive options, if the books are correct.

what you could get on 71 is an R/T heavily optioned beside performance, but as separated options, like hideaways and some of the SE trim or package, but no a formally R/T SE.

R/T SEs where only on 69 and 70.
