I'm in need of under hood electrical wiring diagram for a 1988 Dodge Shadow with 2.2, no turbo.....specifically, the ignition system diagram from ignition coil to ECM.

I'm sure most are all the same from mid-80's to mid 90's....and yea, technically my Shadow is not a "K" car....but you get the idea...

Anyone know where to download or get a schematic online? I have looked for hours and my eyes are fuzzy now...

Thanks, Bryan

Hi Bryan,

I have an 86 FSM for Front Wheel drive cars. However, I think 88 might be the first year for the SMEC engine controller. Earlier cars had a Logic Module often mounted under the side kick panel on the passenger side and a separate power module mounted along side the battery.

If your car has the two module system I might be able to help. If you have the single SMEC controller that combined the two modules it might be in a 92 FSM I have. So, which system is in your car is the question.

mine has the single SMEC module up in the drivers front fender next to battery...I have no other module in the kick panel, thanks

First Bryan, did you try AllPar?  http://www.allpar.com/
Second, I just searched 88 Sundance and came up with a bunch of schematics. (We had a 87) Not sure if they are correct for Shadow or the one you need however.

I tried AllPar...my eyes were getting rummy....I don't know if Sundance had a 2.2 or 2.5 offered....if so, it would be the same

make sure you use a schematic for your year and engine.

they changed from year to year ,mostly in ECM pinout locations

the picture Bob posted is not for my car, which has a 2.5 4cyl....but it does answer my question about the ignition circuit. I bought an ignition coil, and after it arrived I noticed it says "use with external resistor"....so I was looking for some sort of resistor in the "+" side of the circuit...didn't find any, and I have full battery voltage when car is running.....so I'm gonna go on the assumption that this coil will be OK to use in the car...it's an 88 with electronic ignition

if anyone has anything to add, I'm listening

Hey Richard....how about you go back to trolling the deaths and obituary columns on the internet cause that's what you do best....
