Is using something like Loctite on your nuts and bolts worth it or a bad idea??

I have just started bolting things on the car.  Beginning with the rear suspension and was wondering of using loctite was a good idea or no.  Never done it before but some of the things I'm adding now will probably not come off again.  Just wondering.

the only place i have used it so far was on the pinion nut & the  ubolt nuts that hold the rear ujoint

I was thinking of using it on things like the rear axle bumpers the attach to the frame rails and the driver side exhaust hanger bolts that attach it to the floor.  Just don't want things to come loose.  The u-bolts sounds like a good place to use this stuff.

I frequently do.  There are different strengths of it.

I use red locktite on just about everything under the car.

Never thought about using this stuff till I was starting the bolt on of the rear suspension, then thought "what if it comes apart?"  So sounds like a good idea.

Got to take one or two things off but not a big deal right now.

I use loc-tite on a daily base in the industrial machinery.

However I try not to over-use it. Use self locking nuts or spring washers anywhere you can. On hot items like exhaust or engine you can use it.
Do not use blue or green on regular stuff. To loosen that stuff up you need to apply heat to the bolts or nuts.

I looked at the local Lowes and they had two types.  One type says that the parts can be taken apart with hand tools.  The other requires heat, think I'll stick with the one that uses hand tools.

Loctite red is what I use. No need for heat.

Confusingly enough though. It comes in a blue bottle or tube.

  I use /used  blue & red loclite too ,

   on the charger  things like door lock &  latch / striker screws ,   hood & deck lid latch bolts etc   ,  drive shaft blots  ,  cam bolt/s ,  harmonic ballencer bolt  , fan to water pump bolts ,  window crank handle allen head bolts ,  mirror  nuts , pinion nut  etc , steering box , k frame etc
