Daytona Guy

I like mine

That foose job is sweet. Kinda has a Taxi cab paint scheme, but it is sweet. As for factory stuff... Painted truck rims with hub caps looks better???? Just having fun  ;D Just because factory did it does not make it good.

I think it's a fine line regarding which large rim combo looks good on a musclecar. MOST big rims don't look good IMO, but now & then you see something like NYC Mille's & Daytona Guy's cars that have that juuuust right combo that looks great! :2thumbs:

Myself, I'm probably gonna go with 15" Torque Thrust's like in this fine example... :icon_smile_wink:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Daytona Guy, I agree but of course back then the first thing people did was yank those standard rims for some aftemarket wheels.  Just like today except the ones then looked better.

Do you think old time hot rodders got together in the late 60's and complained about the idiot kids in their supercars running around with the goofy looking Cragar and American Racing rims?

Okay, those who know me are aware I like cars that are restored.   Not to say I don't also dabble in race cars or hot rods but with a trend toward the classic look.

That being said, I see so many classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods and the ever present fleet of suburban SUVs and Rice Rockets with wheels that would make a Conestoga wagon blush.   I under stand the performance concept of getting the side wall height of the tire shorter to improve cornering but give me a break!   When did a B-Body, that is a large as a whale by today's standards, look good with 22" of wheel and a rubber band for a tire?   How about a chopped and flamed 32 coupe with wheels the size of garbage can lids.   And don't get me started on Cadillac Escalades riding on wheels that spin, flash and have more chrome than a 52 Buick.   When I had my 68 Road Runner with 14" Steel rims and dog dish hubcaps my daughter and I went to Arbys for a sandwich and the guy at the drive up asked me what size wheels were on the car.   I told him and he said I needed to put some Jordans (24" wheels) on the car to make it happen.   Yeah right!   What would have happened was to turn a classic look into urban sh*t for a fashion craze.

Many fads have come and gone like the Pro Street look, the monochrome paint jobs, pro touring, fake blowers and pastel paint jobs.   Take a look back into some old car mags from the 70's and 80's and even into the 90's and look at the trends that were the "latest thing and here to stay" and it is pretty embarrassing what was around.   For the most part the classic looks from the 50's & 60's are what seem to last and look timeless because that is what we grew up on even you youngsters out there.

I know I will take some pipe for this but lets get a grip people and don't bow to some trend that makes your muscle car look like the Lunar Rover.

Ahem... big wheels work if not over done... there is a LIMIT... you have to know your car and know what that limit is to make it look right.

What size are those wheels?

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

i tand corrected, nyc miles car looks awesome, one of the few bigger than 15s i have ever liked!

Ghoste

471 Magnum has big wheels on his 69 too and like yours, they look good.  Like you say, you have to know the car.  Anything too pimp or rice and the whole effect goes in the toilet.

I see his Pimpin' profits aren't going back into the Ho's...like brand new boobies or something like that.

I think part of what makes NYC's car look so good is that there's some sidewall on those tires, instead of big rims with rubber bands.
Your Charger's still lookin' sweet, Man! :2thumbs:

I have mixed emotions when it comes to wheels.  My wife always has to have a car that stands out from the crowd. She wanted 17's, but we compromised at 16's. Her car is so modified that it seems okay to go with a little bling. She decided how she wanted this car from the start. Her own custom mix color of limelight, fender gills like my 71, painted grille, bumpers tucked in, side markers recessed, and fuel injected with o/d tranny and 25+ mpg to boot.

I believe we're gonna need more pics of that car...just to get a firm grasp on the rest of the car, you know. :scope: :icon_smile_big:

Not to mention how cool it is that your wife is that involved in this hobby.  Mine sees as an annoying but harmless way to keep me around the house.

More pics of wife's 73.
We were able to use the factory cruise control from the 95 Dodge truck that I got the driveline from.
I'm going to install the overhead console from the Dodge truck as soon as I find the time. It has the compass and temp along with map lights. I left the wiring intact so that it just plugs in.
I can't believe how nice this car drives. It is literally like driving a brand new car.

I think the 16" Hopsters look better on the green 73 than on my red 71.
Wheels can look different on different cars.
I'll probably stick to the 15" Ralley's on the 71, besides they're a lot cheaper.
I'll probably put 15" ralley's on my 70 chal convert.
