68 Charger Color Differences QQ1 v. CC1

Back in high school (many-many moons ago) I had a 68 Charger R/T that was blue.  It was the original paint, the car was only 6 years old (oops, I'm dating myself!).  Sold if shortly after getting married.

A number of years ago I purchased a basket case 68 Charger R/T that I started to restore.  I also purchased a parts car; part of the same deal.

Anyway, my plan is to restore the one I have now (not numbers matching) to match my original Charger.  However, I'm not sure which blue it was.

My parts car is QQ1 and looks like very much to be the color (it was the original paint, I think.  If not, they re-painted everything, under the vinyl top, under the under coating, etc).

The problem is that most pics I see on the internet, QQ1 is lighter than I remember my car.  Here's a picture of it from back in the day.

QQ1 is a bright blue metallic. Your pics look off towards the green side. Probably time messed with them. Look at this thread http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,370.0.html to see what it should look like.

lighting & age of photos plays a big part in the appearance of these colors

There were 3 "blues" available on the '68 Charger "U", "Q", "E", NO "C" ..... then there is "turquoise" - "L"?

You picture looks like it could be turquoise (LL1) but with the shadows and age it's hard to tell. UU1 is very light (almost a silver blue) and EE1 is very dark. So I think you're is likely QQ1 or LL1 depending on the green content.

Here's my previous turquoise R/T (tried finding pics in the shadows):

And the best I can get of the QQ1 R/T since it's in storage and still dirty...

Here's the other Troy's previous LL1 Hemi:

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

For the '68 Dodge car line "331" ('69s R4) & "661" ('69s F8) were Charger ONLY:hah: PPG has such nice "generic" names for their Chrysler Corp. colors:icon_smile_blackeye:

& "C", "D", "H", & "K" were Polara-Monaco ONLY. :2thumbs: from HAMTRAMCK-HISTORICAL

From 6bblgt's pics, I'd say it was EE1.  Definitely not the LL1 as it looks in those pictures.

However, Troy's turquoise pics look like it as well.

But, when I had the car, there was nothing about it that made me think turquoise; in any lighting.  I had the car for about 3 years.  The body was in decent shape.

So, I'm still thinking QQ1.  The fenders, hood, and deck lid of my parts car look the right color.

I really appreciate the pics, it definitely gives me something to think about.  I may have to just try to find some examples I can see in person.

Ultimately, thou, since it would never be a numbers matching show car, I just really need to find a color that seems to me to be right.
