Caliper question for 11.75 rotors?

I'm doing the Disc-O-Tech swap on my 70 Charger to 11.75 rotors with "slider" type calipers. Rick E. said the calipers on 73-76 A Body use a smaller size piston in the caliper and not to use later B body calipers but never clearly tells what caliper to use for the bigger piston? (To get the proper hose mounting pad position/shape.) My head hurts from re-reading and searching here and online!  :eek2:
Most information argues about spindles, NOT an issue for me I'll use the A Body style. (To be safe.) It's knowing just what slider caliper has the large piston and correct hose mount to match the pictures in the Disc-O-Tech write up? (To make it even more confusing I've read the plastic type pistons swell eventually so I'd prefer the steel pistons.) It all seemed so simple 6 years ago when I started rounding up parts!
If you have done this PLEASE help me out!   :shruggy:

As far as A body calipers if I remember right from John Kunkel 73-75 was the small bore 2.60 and 76 was 2.75. On B bodies mid to late 70's early 80's were 2.75 bore. The early B bodies had the pin type calipers and somewhere around 76 IIRC they went to the slider calipers. On my 69 Charger I went with 73-76 A body spindles and the calipers, adapters and hoses came off of a 81 St Regis and I mounted the calipers to the rear to clear the sway bar. The steel type pistons is what I used, they came of the St Regis that was a former cop car, I don't know if that made any difference or not. I think steel is regarded as the better of the two but there are pro's and cons to both of them.

Thanks for that! Hose clearance was one issue, on my 70 Charger the sway bar is moved inward so the calipers will mount to the front. Your calipers used the banjo bolt 2 washer deal? (With the lower mounting pad for the hose.) Perhaps it's so simple I'm overlooking the obvious?
Rick goes into great detail on the hard to find parts for pin type calipers but no part numbers for what he took pictures of? He refers to the text but there is no clear info in it!  :2thumbs:

I heard back from Dr Diff (That was fast!) and they said 76-79 Aspen (Mounted to the front for a 70 Charger.) was the correct search. I see phenolic and steel pistons listed and it crosses to St. Regis in some listings on eBay. (?)

I can't remember on the caliper banjo bolt setup but I thinks thats correct, I will have to take a look this weekend.

I have a set of 79 Aspen calipers coming from Advance Auto today and ordered backing shields and hoses from Dr. Diff. Got Mopar Ultra-High Temp bearing grease (5083149AA) from Morris 4x4. Summit has Bendix Brakes Titanium II bonded/riveted semi-metallic pads so they looked best for the money. (46.00 shipped.)
As some of the guys have pointed out it would be much less hassle to go with MP Brakes complete set of 10.84 Disks for what's coming in around the same money, but oh no I just had to go 11.75 disks for my 70 Charger.

B5, I have the same brake setup  but have yet to purchase the sway bar. I do have 69 LCAs. So, did you go 69 sway bar?

I went through this years ago.   :pity:

Here are links to the threads where I asked questions, got some answers and then documented my suspension rebuild with photos and parts lists.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Shakey! I see from the time dates you were going through all this about when I bought R/L complete A body disk set off a Duster in a junkyard. Had I just refreshed the entire assembly's I could have just used what I had back then.
I've many of your really good write ups bookmarked! Thanks for your input and experience.  :2thumbs:  I've used all Moog/Mopar on my maintain/repairs so far.
