u-joints of different width at rear axle?

the driveshaft wants a u-joint with a 2 5/8" width (clip to clip) but the 8 3/4 rear wants a 2 1/8" ujoint. the diameters are also different: 1.25" on the driveshaft vs 1.08 at the axle yoke?

Sounds like the wrong drive shafts was substituted as some point. The drive shaft wants the Spicer 7290 while the rear housing wants the 7260 Spicer. There is a conversion joint out there that can accommodate this, like this one:

Yea, I had that problem. I went to O'reillys and found exactly the right off set combo I needed. :cheers:
