14x8 steelies

I remember seeing an on-line store that sold 14x8 steel wheels for MoPar 5 on 4.5. Now I can't find it to save my life :brickwall:. My thought is to have 14x8s on the rear so that I could use these OEM wheel covers (see pic below) and have some what of a wide tire instead of the stock skinny ones on the 14x5.5, 14x6 or 14x7 rims. Anyone know of the 14x8 steel rims, if they exist and if so where to buy them?

Has any one done this set-up? I wonder how it would look. I love the look of these wheel covers and I got a set (4) at the Fall Fling last Oct. for $20.00 for the whole set :2thumbs: Yes $20.00 I couldn't believe it. They're not perfect but these go for at least $20.00 for one on average if not more.

I would imagine that I would have to have a long valve stem for it to protrude thru the wheel cover or I could just remove the wheel cover to air up the tires. The only thing that I wouldn't like about this set-up is that there wouldn't be a deep dish effect especially for the rears.

If anyone has pics on this crazy ideal I would appreciate it if you could post them.

Thanks

EDIT: My topic should've read 14x8 and not 14x10 :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

I heard this guy had some way to attach 14" hub caps to a 15" wheel, good luck.

Thanks for the link
But for those prices I'd be better off going Cragars in which I was going to do before I thought of this. I was looking for an inexspensive wheel tire combo but still having a mean look. Also I meant 14x8 and not 14x10 because I know that they don't make 14x10s what was I thinking :brickwall:

Specialty Wheels sells them, I think we still get a group buy discount.

BTW you can get 14" X 10" wheels custom made.

I'll guess I will re-think my thought process on this ideal. Holy crap this is an exspensive way to go :brickwall: $1200.00 for 14x10s with tires that you cannot use. And I did not find any 14x8s listed on Specialty Wheels at least not in the form of black steelies. Maybe I'll stuff the widest tire that will fit on a 14x6 stock black rim. Or save my money for 15x10s Cragar SS (rear) and 15x7 (front).

Coker, Marshes, Diamond Back, Wheel Vintiques, Summit, Jegs, there are still a few places to check. Although 14" rubber to compliment the 8" width may be even tougher yet to find.

I think you can order Cragar SS in different back spacing too. They do look good on Chargers.  :2thumbs:

ooh, yes the "mopar dude" the dude who sold me rebuilt center caps for rallye wheels.

IF YOU CALL REBUILD CAPS TO SIMPLY SPRAY ON ALUMINIUM PAIN OVER THE EXISTANT PITS!!! RIGHT!!! HE REBUILT THE ONES I BOUGHT FROM HIM!!! THANKS "DUDE"

Widest tire I could find in 14" on a quick search on Summit was 245mm.  That doesn't exactly scream out 8" wheel to me.

Despite their limited availability, 15s still have more and wider tires available than 14". Might be time to save up for those instead.

The dude is selling rebuilt caps! Who would be stupid enough to try and sell those when there's NOS or repop ones. I know where someone can get a whole gallon of blinker fluid for 50% off with free shipping.

Thanks Nacho, I just took themopardude off my favorites list of go to parts.  :2thumbs:

THERE IS MORE!

when I was buying my rallye wheels set was trying to save more bucks as posible ( when not ? LOL ) and got wheels from specialties and rest of stuff from the "dude". He doesn't just sent me "rebuilt" caps, but also buying polished trim he sent me ROUNDED edge outer trim where the correct one is flat and stepped!!! GREEEAT DUUUUUDE.

when I claim for that he told me HE KNEW I WASN'T SPENDING BICK BUCK FOR THE PARTS, SO SENT ME ACCORDINGLY!!! NIIICE DUUUUDE

even Is right I'm trying to save money, doesn't mean I'm buying bad or incorrect parts!! ( even knowing correct trim for my car should be brushed, but wanted polished and they exist with flat/stepped outer edge... just bought a set in JUST $90 )

I wasn't actually expecting rechromed caps, but at least pits removed and correctly refinished with CORRECT GRAY SHADE AND TEXTURE.

I removed pits with a dremmel, aplied some light bondo layer on areas touched with dremmel, sand paper, fill and sand primer and paint... they came out GREAT

Thanks Nacho for the "Heads Up" on this operation. I knew once I visited their website something was up. I mean those prices just popped out at me. But now with your added info of their "Rip-off Service" I will stay away. I'm just sorry that you had to take the brunt of it.

Man do I hate bad/rip-off services pisses me off :flame: :flame: :flame:
