71 superbee -changing from column shift to floor

hey all, i have a 71 superbee and i want to convert it from column shift to floor shift. Do i need to change out the whole steering column or can i just switch out the plastic covers.Also do i need any special brackets for the floor hump and the tranny. any help is appreciated

There are several brackets on the floor under the console you will need.  Here is a pic from my car.

change the steering column is the best and cheap... try to change just the housings/covers is lot of unnecesary job

On pic is the front half of center console assembly brackets. There is also a small plate on rear, just between buckets where bolts the center console glove box area.

extra hump is just fro Manual trannies... auto just need open a hole to fit the linkage and bolt the boot seal, beside weld the brackets.

On the forward left hand side of the floor hump there will be a small flat circular area. This is where you cut a round hole for the linkage to go through. No need to mangle the hump as i have seen so many times.  This is the correct location and will look factory. A round metal hole cutter that fits in your drill works great.

what is the diameter of the hole. also can you take a pic of all the brackets mounted to the hump. thanks , chad

I dont have that all apart yet so I cant measure it.  Im not sure when ill be working on it again but will take better pics of the stuff next time im out there.  Maybe this weekend.

I have a 71-74 console shift column if you need it.  it is for a power steering car.  pm me if you are interested.

As far as diameter of the hole to cut if you have the metal ring and rubber boot as shown in the picture just measure the INSIDE  diameter of the metal ring and make your hole one quarter inch smaller.
