Hey all...

My car came with BFG 225x70x15 tires in front.
255x60x15 rears.
Isn't it best to keep both at 60 series?

Also, can 295's be used with 15x8 in the rear?

thanks!

I just went to the tire rack calculator and it says the 295 50 15 can run on a rim size 8 to 10.5.  I would ask people how they work on 8.

regarding the other tires, I think it is probably OK.  the 225 70 are 27.4 inches in diameter  the 255 60 are 27.1 inches in diameter.  I suspect the person who put them on was trying to match the sidewall height and just change the width.

See what others say.

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

The tires are flat spotted anyway.
Im doing burnouts to melt them.

Hey JWW,

I looked into replacing my 275 60 15's with 295's.
Truth be told I couldn't justify spending even more
money to replace my 8x15 mag500's with 10x15's
which fit 295's much better.
I really wanted wider rubber too.

Other members will chime in here but I think, while 8x15's
are doable they just don't look right on 295's.   :Twocents:

I'd like to see some pix of the 8x15 295 combo on some of
our posse's Chargers.

I've also heard that BFG was making 295 60 15's again.
Anyone verify that? I'd def cough up the simolians for
a pair of those!

"60 series" is just a relative value from the width, non an absolute value.

so... is the best keep the 60 series?... dunno... do you want to use same tires or not ?

60s on 295s are taller than 60 on 255s... on both, the 60 means the % of the tire width which makes the sidewall.

now, talking about opnions... 255/60-15 is TO ME the best tire setup for 7" and 8" rims in all 4 corners

A quick question, are you doing this for looks or traction?

Both
but Im sticking with 275 for the rears.

The reason I asked is because I learned that the rubber compound plays a critical role with traction.  The BFG T/As have a compound for long life and therefore don't give much traction.  Folks on here can advise on what you may need if you want traction.  It may be that the larger tires will be sufficient.

It probably also depends if you like to spin them.
