I think you can achieve similar results modifying k frame
Gussets to steering box mount ,
Put her up on a hoist engine running, have some one turn the steering wheel,
You won't believe the flex in k frame ,
Fully weld k frame , gussets to this area
Helps reduce the flex, ? I don't know if this would help fitting a slung bearing to bottom of shaft , not a bad idea though

Really just turning the wheel I can I see this flex? Damn. ....

This may seem obvious but I will state it anyway.   It will need to have weight on the tires to give the resistance and cause it to flex.  (4 post lift, ect.)

Hey can you explain how/where exactly to weld and gusset the K-frame to stiffen it up. Pics would be great.  :2thumbs:

Look on the Firm Feel site at their gusseted k frames for ideas.

The sector support is a good way to shore of the flex if your car is all together, drivable, and you don't want tear into it to gusset the mount.

Rick Ehrenberg installed one of those supports when they first came out and gave it a thumbs up.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

They used to have a gusset kit, but stopped selling it(i.e. you send them the k frame and they modify it). I asked for the gussets and they sold them to me for like 15 bucks. Don't know if they would still do that since they have a replacement for it now.

Good idea.  Not having to tear the car apart is a selling point...

Look on page six close to the bottom.  I bought the reinforcement kit (cheaper then now) and it's pretty simple to add.
