Still no news. Hasn't popped up. Starting to sink in that it's gone. The insurance wants me to send in the title and the keys, I don't want to
Made me feel for you just reading that statement.  Sorry, bro.  Best of luck

I wouldn't just yet if it was me.  I'd wait a month or so before making that step.  Insurance company just wants to hurry up and pay you off so the whole thing can be dropped.  I'd want the cops to have some time to try and find it.

Never know, insurance company could be in on the deal. :scratchchin:  Anything is possible. :scratchchin:

So sorry to hear about this...  :rotz:

You may be doing this already but I would be searching craigslist high and low for a '69 Charger and/or parts.  There's a site (search tempest.com) where you can put in your zip, what you're searching for, search radius, and within the last x # of days.
Check out my full thread and progress here.

That car is sitting. You may take the loss and move on. Then one day like an ol' girlfriend she'll be there, asking for money.
What's the insurance deal? And when ya going shopping?

I thought the same thing.  Especially, the keys.

70 sublime

Keys to prove they were not in the car when it drove off ?

If it comes down to it I would keep my keys and make them a duplicate set if that is what is needed to get the insurance money

Definitely NOT an easy thing to read...  :rotz:

Some people man. There's a private place in hell just for those thieves. Legitimately!

Still keeping my fingers crossed and checking back everyday hoping to see a positive post full of excitement.

Best of luck!

Any chance your car could have been repossessed?  Have no idea why they would want the keys.

Maybe the insurance co. needs any set of keys from the policy holder for payoff so they can believe they weren't in the ignition. I'd give them some keys for something else. If they pay the car off and then its found months or years later do they also return the car?

Ghoste

Didn't that happen recently where a Corvette or something was stolen decades ago and then found?

Relinquishing the title to the insurance company makes sense but the keys is new news to me.

GOTWING

don't most folks have more than one set of keys? Say the keys were in it, go pull the extra set off the hook and bingo, here ya go they weren't in it.  :D

It's been almost 2 weeks, the depression hasn't left. Not looking good. The complete vin is xs29l9b421314. It was stamped on the body correctly too (in case they swap the vin on the dash) . I think it's on the radiator support and trunk.

Don't give up RGA!!! My coworker had his car stolen over x-mas and the police dept. found it the other day abandoned in Oakland, CA. I just hope those a**holes didn't do anything to the car. Pp. are such scum these days!!!!

How would the Insurance Co. know if they are the correct keys on not for the stolen car? :shruggy:

Even if the insurance company required 2, 4, or even 10 sets of keys it doesn't matter. ....it could easily be done.

they want the keys & title ,  so  if & when it turns up , they can sell it at a salvage auction  :yesnod:  ,   stand procedure with a  total loss insurance , stolen car claim ,  had couple ,of cars ( daily drivers stolen 20 plus years ago )   :yesnod:

I cannot see the depression going away any time soon.  I still look here everyday hoping to see that it has been recovered.  If not recovered, yes, time will allow you to move on, but the anger will always be there.  Ripping off your pride and joy is a huge personal violation, not to be forgiven.....

Really hard to read this thread, it SUCKS!!!
My heart goes out to you fella....

I lost my 69 R/T too, by devious means also!
Gave it to a fiend to re-paint in his autobody shop.
He was driving it drunk and hits a CopCar, gets arrested the car impounded.
I get the Charger back and the so-called friend says he will repair and repaint my Charger.
He then goes to Court and losses his licence for three years....
He blames me for his problems.. go figure???
Any ways he fixes the Charger, real nice, then says he will sell it for me for good money.
So he sells it cheap and closes the business and vanishes... :brickwall:
Still not over it after 20-years.
there's more than one way to steal a Charger...

I had already given him the Logbook after agreeing he could sell my R/T...
More fool me. :slap: :slap: :slap:

Just curious.  How did the a--hole manage to sell your car.  Did he have the title in his possession?
