new AC unit or get the old system working

Hello all,
I have a 69 charger that WAS an AC car but I don't have any of the AC parts, just the hole in the firewall.  Would it even be worth it to get the old AC system together price wise? and use the hole in the firewall or just cover it up and make it look nice and then buy a full kit from classic auto air.? 
If it would be better to get the new system and I wanted to clean up the engine bay where would I put the hoses?  On the inner fenders?  Has anyone done this and taken pix?  I would love to get the engine bay as clean as possible and those hoses really make it look bad.

Hi,

I guess it depends on if you want the under hood area to look like the way it left the factory. You could hunt for all the factory parts but, if you just want a working A/C system, a kit like Classic Air's will make life a lot easier. As for dressing up the hoses, that's really a matter of personal taste. I'm sure there are folks who have installed the Classic Air system and can offer some pictures.  Price wise, I would think it's going to be about equal by the time you find and recondition all the original factory parts, might even be more.

That's pretty much the answer.  One way looks correct for the purists and the other is likely easier.  I'm largely a purist and I'm not even sure what I'd do in your shoes.

ok, Im not a purist at all, and would like a cleaner looking engine bay without a lot of hoses.  So classic air it is.

Its a smaller unit so it may be a bit lighter up there too.  Maybe cheaper and easier to get service parts?
