I know they make these, anyone using ones they like in their 69's?
At one time I had an XV retractable one but my gf bought me only 1 of them now they are out of business and I lost it anyway.

been looking at these for a few years , debating should I get them or not ,

think if you moved the lower seatbelt mounting , hole /nut , further back a few inches ,  so its directally  inline with the roof mounting bolt , it would look better ,
Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

Not bad at all really, I may bite the bullet and get a set while the interior is out of the car.

XV has been reformed and is called XV Engineering. They do offer the belts now and have them in stock. I've had these in my 69 for about 5 years now and they have been great.

i bought the set from year one.  they required a couple of fixes. first the bolts didnt fit in the holes on the belt brackets. best i can figure they were sized before the bolts were coated, had to open up every hole.  next the big issue was the short belts that go on the driveshaft hump were too short. whether you have a buddy seat or a console they are not long enough to make it past either, which means if for some chance you actually got it latched, you could never unlatch it because it would be crammed in between the two seats, or between the seat and console. pain in the butt to spend $300 and something on a set that you had to fix.  took the short belts to an upholstery guy and had him lengthen them.

called year one and they blew me off

myk

Wait....are the XV belts and the set from Year One the same thing?

Chargen69

i dont know, i bought the 3 point harness set with aircraft style latches, whichever one that is.  they work great after we fixed them

subscribing, going to have to get a set of belts soon.  A question for those that know about seat belts. If you have the bolt hole in the headliner behind your head, and the headliner was cut to see the hole, did the car come with shoulder belts? Where on the build sheet would it show up if any? When I got my car in 78, there were no shoulder belts, and they didn't have the tongues underneath the visors where they clip to, there was double buckles for the drivers seat but I thought that was due to the buddy seat being there, not shoulder harnesses.

Getting two from Wesco looks like a viable option to me, I doubt anyone will ever sit in the back seat again, but may have a passenger occasionally.  The factory belt option is ridiculously expensive.  Wish I knew what I did with the retractors.

I was just saying I'd probably only buy belts for the front seats, I doubt the back seat will see any use in the future.  Kids are grown and pretty much out of the house so won't be hauling them anywhere in that car.  The retractable seat belt looks great and would work well with what I've got planned, will have to get a tan set but they have those, already checked and saved the link for use when the charger makes it out of the backyard.  Getting rid of one car this weekend, and working on a 2nd to liquidate it as well, then only have one other to get out of the way and the charger will be free again.

I called XV today and he told me they should have the retractable seat belts in sometime in April and will email anyone on his email list to let them know when they are back in stock.

CDR,
Did you use the above 3 point belts for your Charger? Do you have any feedback as to what you would do different if you were to do this again?
Did you use the extender for the female end (because of the height of the console)?
I am planning to do this mod very soon.
Thanks,
John

Is the extender the bench seat receiver end? or is it a different piece? thanks for the response, these belts look like very viable replacements and would feel much like the newer belts do.  And it gives me a reason to use that bolt hole in the top that never made sense.  Major hesitation is that everything else inside is original looking, as in stock... these would be a departure in a small way, but it would save hundreds over buying a full replacement set.

the extender is a different piece, i think if i was to do is over i would just get the longer bench seat buckle end.

Im getting a black set made up for front bench and rear seat retractable seat belt sets.  They will be ready to bolt in replacements with the stock lift latch style and textured covers.  Should be very close to originals and will be safety certified tested out to highway safety standards same as new car belts. Bucket seats should be availible too. This is being done by a major seatbelt mfg. company using b-bodies owned by one of the workers for mockup reference. Once the build is completed, normally they will be available only through the regular big restoration parts suppliers.  However, I'm going to get mine direct since I have been working in this with them and probably much cheaper.  I asked if I had enough people interested would they sell them through me on a group order and they said yes if I had about 20.  So, once I get these completed and show the install on my bird clone, if enough people wanting to get a set on a special group order, I'll see what I can do.  I don't know my or any price yet but just putting it out there for consideration.  The main thing is I will know I have belts that have gone proper testing and know they won't fail in an accident.

Old Car Nut,
I might be interested in a set. Any estimate of when you will get your seat belts? Keep me posted.

He told me yesterday they about completed the design build and were in process of testing and waiting on some new latches. Shouldn't be too long but I'll post them as soon as they come.  I also mentioned I wanted mine with the cert tags sewn in for insurance and or liability issues that could ever come up with an unfortunate instance.  At least that would help keep lawyers at bay for not using certified safety belts in a motor vehicle.

the belts i installed are  dot approved.

I ordered a set of fronts from WESCO Performance today. I am getting the Charger ready for the 5 hour roadtrip to Chryslers at Carlisle so I hope to receive them soon and have them done ina few weeks.
Based on feedback from CDR (Thanks, CDR!), plus I measure the original female side of the seat belts, I ordered the 20" long "floppy" bench seat belts. The original belt measured 20". I also ordered a pair of 11" plastic sleeves. i am thinking I can modify those sleeves to stiffen up the belt to help prevent it from sliding down between the front bucket seat and the console.

I had the same problem.  I'll take a picture of where I found the bolt holes to hopefully guide you in.

OR...

You can take a look at XV Motorsports' picture of where they installed the 3 point belt.  As you can see in the picture, the bolt hole is somewhere near the top of the curve of the rear window/C-pillar:

That should do fine to figure out where the upper hole is, Knowing how far from the edge helps, old headliner had a hole there the pin hole you were pointing to look like the coat hanger holes. Not sure if plan on putting coat hangers back in.

No, I knew the right hole was up there, and it was threaded so you knew it was for the seat belts, mine just never had shoulder belts in it when I got it, they had been removed before I got ahold of the car.
