Does not having the fender tag affect the value for a 74 Charger SE, I think not but am wondering?

car does have a fender tag, just not the one that came with the car.

Ghoste

For a 74 it wouldn't make much impact unless the car had rare options that needed proof.

Hard Charger

if the tag was missing for a super bee or a RT I would not buy it at Rt or Bee prices.

Ghoste

What options does the car have Randy?

Bulldog69

What is the deal anyway with people removing fender tags?  My car was missing its tag, not a huge deal killer obviously, but enough to piss me off.

Ghoste

I've heard at one time people would take the tag off to drag to the paint supplier if they were repainting the car but that could be a bs story.  Maybe just when they were repainted back in 70's no one bothered to keep them.

Hard Charger

people get concerned that they will get stolen.

Ghoste

Now yes, but it seemed like many of them were missing years and years ago before all the hoopla started.

polywideblock

I've seen people over here with piles of them(collectors)     :scratchchin:
they collected them (mostly from wreckers back in the 80's )back when the cars weren't special  and they could take them at will

seen a couple of members here with quite a few to    :yesnod:

I don't think it is any more or less different than a non-matching numbers car. Worth somewhat more, sure but a lot ... probably not.
I snagged one at a yard from a 74 Satellite going to a crusher a few weeks back.  Just seemed a waste for all that info to go away forever with little or no trace.
I'll send it to a buddy of mine who has a 74 runner for his reference.

Maybe it's right and the dash isn't?

Some of us just took it off to preserve what we had left.  Mine had rusted or been eaten thru by battery acid on one corner, and I took it off and put it in a plastic bag to be stored inside, along with the build sheet.  Now I'd like a new one made, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Having one on the car at all times isn't important, I'd rather see the right one on than a wrong one though.  I know my original matches the sequence number.
69 RT/SE Y3 cream yellow w/tan vinyl top and black r/t stripe. non matching 440/375, 3:23, Column shift auto w/buddy seat, tan interior, am/fm w/fr to back fade, Now wears 17" magnum 500 rims and Nitto tires. Fresh repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires.

472 R/T SE

I snapped a pic of mine, laminated it, even put a fold in the left hand corner, used one screw with purple on it's head & the other bare and mounted it.
I must say I was proud of my work.

Some of the stories I heard were the car was punched in the front end & the bodyshop never transferred them & the owner didn't seem to care or knew any better.
