After the SEMA show someone had posted photos of another 68 Charger that had been customized and JB mentioned how it was at least so much nicer than the RS Charger.  Here it is, judge for yourself.

Aero426

Swing and a miss.   Trying to improve on the original is like trying to hit a 150 mph fastball.    Misguided crap.

Ghoste

Yep.

Aero426

I don't see a single thing that makes me stop and think, "hey, I really like that".

Cooter

Well, that proves again, just cause you can don't mean you should....Ruined another Charger and never got close to orange paint....

Like it even matters how it looks?

A big-name shop built it.
They chopped up a desirable bodystyle.
They probably spent six figures just on the engine & CNC work alone.

The end result of all that is guaranteed glowing press coverage.  It could look like the car from "Corvette Summer" and nobody would fail to cover it or question the styling.

jar1292

it looks bloated I will never forgive myself for opening this thread...  :puke: :puke:

when ever I think about doing my own bodywork this is how it probably would turn out, looking nothing like how it should.
Restoring a charger is like a saying I heard along time ago "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it".... Jesus I wish I could remember who said that...

hollywood1336

I comitted somewhat of a sacrilege by restomoding my 68, modern motor, modern interior and modern suspension, but anyone looking at it is going to know it's Charger right away, I didn't change one line of the already beautiful exterior.
These big name shops think they know it better but they actually don't. They have taken a car which appealed to everyone and made it appeal to a couple. In complete agreemnet, what a waste of a good Charger.

Please build a CG model, print out a scale model on a 3D printer first.

Then hit the delete key and throw the model in the trash.

Troy

That is truly awful. It's funny how much just sharpening the lines/corners really degrades the look of the car (and I see this at times on "restored" cars too).

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

JB400

I will say that it looked better before they painted it

Here's an interesting comment that the Roadster Shop made about this car + my question about it.  They was showing pix of a nice 69 Camaro they were until I slightly hijacked the thread:

QuoteI'm not sure why you are hating on the charger for lack of details or fabrication. (I think this is your 2nd or 3rd post about it now) There is an insane amount of detail in this car that maybe you do not see. Most of it is on the subtle side to enhance the looks and lines of the original body. At least 75% of the body was completely built from scratch or drastically modified. I think the center of the roof was the only thing left untouched. The interior is 100% hand fabricated as was the engine bay, trunk, entire chassis, belly pans, etc... Every part on the car was either built from scratch or machined specifically for this build. The only store bought items on the car are the tires, brakes, and basic mechanical parts. Everything else is a 1-off piece. We will start a build thread sometime next week to show all of the design, detail, and fabrication that went into the Charger.

For the record, I wasn't criticizing it for lack of details or fabrication.

I saw that thing at SEMA.  Not my cup of tea.  Hell, not even two girls would eat this out of their cup.

Not my cup of tea, either.  :rotz:
However, MCG gave it their SEMA Mopar Modified Pick?  :scratchchin:
