Wing option on a 68, 69 or 70 Charger

Hypothetically, lets say we were back in 68, 69 or 70 and getting ready to order our brand new Charger. And, while you are filling out your order form with the options, you see that a wing (Daytona) is offered as an option. How many out there would have ordered their car with or without the wing option. It could be ordered on any model, from 318 thru 426. This option doesn't include the nose because then you would be ordering a full Daytona.

I personally love the aero cars, I had the opportunity 35 years ago to buy a gold 426 Daytona but didn't have the money, just a kid out of college, based on today's prices the guy was asking pennies for it. I think the wing adds an edge and a statement to the already distinctive body line. Charger's are the most beautiful car to ever come out of Detroit, If I had my choice I think I would have checked the wing option box on my order form.

Gen 3 Charger guys please include your comments as well, if the option was there what would you have done.

Opinions?

I probably wouldn't have.  I like the tall wing as part of the overall aero package and think it looks good with everything but I don't think I would do it as a stand alone.  I would likely get the tall wing over the gull wing the 70 guys could order,  Just personal taste though.

I'd rather have a duck tail spoiler instead

You know when I first got my Charger I was pretty set on getting a wing, but after looking at the flawless lines of the car I decided that I didn't/COULDN'T change a thing.  Ultimately, it's Daytona or no wing...

No wing for me.
Chargers have such great lines already.

I fall in the category of full aero package or no tall wing. I am currently building a clone Daytona and I keep going back and forth. When the wing is off I think the cars classic lines don't need anything else and I debate whether to leave the nose and the wing off and just build a 70 Charger with the 500 fastback. But then I when I have to do something that requires me to mount the nose and the wing I think that that is the way to keep on going. There has never been a time where I had just the wing on it and thought that was an option. It is just too tall compared to the length of the car with out the beak. :shruggy: :Twocents:
