Everything is for sale.  :slap:  Some things actually sell :icon_smile_wink:
I suspect their are many engines like this hiding in sheds.
Met a guy in the eighties that had 13 of them sitting on specially build shelves. Several had holes in the side and none were for sale. This engine has moved people in many odd ways. ::)

Judging by the current mopar engine pricing, I believe I will sell my wedge engines.  Comparing to this hemi I believe I will ask $20,000.00 for a running iron head 440.  Better hurry for a chance at this deal!!!

This guy is pretty slick. :coolgleamA:

What better way to attract attention to the engine he wants to sell ?

Thousands of people around the world are talking about:

"That crazy dumbass that wants $150 K for that old Hemi on ebay."

The link to his ebay auction is getting posted on every old car forum there is.

He knows he'll never get it...

He's just waiting for that call or e-mail from the one guy that "Gets" it and asks:

Ok...

So, how much do you really want for it. ?

QuoteI will not allow visual inspection unless I receive a substantial amount of earnest deposit of which there is no refund.

I like this part myself!  :slap: Yeah, here's a check for 150 grand for an engine that I can't even rest my eyes upon!
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

bakerhillpins

  The way it sounds from reading it the 150k includes the $24k he spent on storage over 40 years.

Pricing aside, his story of the engine's history is interesting. Can someone explain this to stupid old me:

QuoteAt the request of the original seller I removed the heads so that he could check ring wear of which there was none. I realize now this was stupid, but not long after the inspection he wanted to buy the engine back. What can you expect out of a 19 or 20 year old kid.

So what's the big deal with pulling the heads off? Is he suggesting that he didn't get the originals back?  He says it's going to need rebuilt so you have to pull the heads anyhow..

That thing has been sitting waiting for a dumbass. And people WONDER Why I call Hemi stuff "rich man's toy"...
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

hatersaurusrex

He's hoping the owner of that particular VIN will see it and come forward - if that car isn't already junk.  Unfortunately I doubt they'd pony up that amount of cabbage without a numbers transmission too.   Why pay that much for a 'nearly numbers matching' resto?  Do a crate motor and be done with it if it's not all going to match.

While the guys price is nuts, a complete 426 core with all the right 1970 bits, carbs, exhaust manifolds can get pricey to the right person.

Zackly.  If I had the rig it came out of I'd have little problem giving what he's paid in storage for it plus the original $2k.

I wonder why that motor sat so long before it was put in a car?  Cast on May 28, 1969.  The last #s of the VIN 226532 look like it was built in May '70.  90 day window on the blocks after cast right?

The VIN looks to be an entire year past the cast date.  The partial VIN on the oil pan rail looks legit too?   :shruggy:

TUFCAT

My favorites lines of this listing are....

"For the Serious Investors Only"

Really, no shit...they must be serious...or seriously insane to pay that much

"After long hours of consideration I have decided to offer serious buyers an opportunity to become the next owner."

Gee, thanks for the opportunity, and those long hours of consideration

"I am interested in Nevada or Wyoming Ranch land as a trade."

How many square feet?

"I will not allow visual inspection unless I receive a substantial amount of earnest deposit of which there is no refund."

Now that's really stupid....a non refundable deposit just to LOOK AT IT!!!  Apparently he expects someone to shell out $150,000 based on pictures alone?

It reminds me of another 426 Hemi that is currently sitting in a barn a few hours east of me.
The owner is adamant about getting $20,000 for it, even though it will likely have to be rebuilt again, and has already been bored a few times.
Yes, I'd like to have it. No, I won't pay that much.
Crazy. :'(

The 1966 426 hemi block we have has RAMCHARGERS stamped underneath it, maybe i will list it on Ebay too, ::)  I'll start the bidding at some stupid price and offer to trade for some land in Key West because coming into work today at 10 degrees is getting old !  :D

Its a cruel 'DOG EAT DOG' WORLD FOR HEMI GUYS!!! :slap:

I heard a guy with a Hemi Daytona had to pay $50,000 to buy his numbers matching engine back!
He's laughing now as it put $100,000 on the value, he reckons!!! :2thumbs:

Adds 100k to the value?  In his mind or did someone actually offer him that much more for it?
