I really like these and we are looking for a new family car.
So before i'm going to look for one,i want to know if someone over here has some experience with these cars.
Are they any good and are there some things i need to be aware of?
The one i'm looking for right now has 96000 miles

Thanks

Not 100% the same.....but we have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. It's been amazing, never had a problem with it. 90,000 miles on it so far. The 2005-2010 Gen. of Jeep Grand Cherokees seem to hold their value and I haven't really heard of many problems with them.

Absolutely John!  You brought your nice girlfriend (who's now your wife). It would be great for you guys to come back to Carlisle. I also remember your wife enjoyed touring around places in Pennsylvania.  :2thumbs:

back to the OP

I have not heard much bad news about them....one thing i remember reading was to make sure its never had a chip/tuner in it

something about the computer and the way it controls the trans shifts

I do know that almost everyone that has those put trans coolers on them

One other thing that comes to mind was the front suspension

ball joints/u joints, and tie rod ends seem to wear down quicker than normal on those if i remember right

basically, verify and weird vibrations from the front end, and clunks or rattles........if it check out you should be good

Oh, one last thing, I do know the older 5.7 hemi had some sort of tick.....a quick google search will give you all the info you need

I think it was for the 1st gen 5.7 (02-05???)

All 5.7L, 6.1L and 6.4L Hemis have some sort of tick. That's where the term "Hemi Tick" comes from

Thanks.

If it has a "hemi tick",is that a problem,or will it last for a long time?

Thanks.

I've known of 3 or 4 different people with HEMI's that ticked and not one of them was ever concerned about it...they just kinda chattered away forever
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....
