tired of "buyers"

Im just tired of when some 17-18 yr old kids come in backyard where my charger is parked and ask me to sell it to them for $1300. Today I had yet another kid call me and ask if I want to take $1300 for my R/T. I just couldnt bring myself to tell him how he has no clue how much more it's really worth. Is it that bad that I have to put big poster on there NOT FOR SALE, DONT ASK. Or should I let a pitbull in the yard

I don't know whats worse... kids offering chump change or offering someone real$$$$ and getting the no i'm gonna restore it sum day (in the auto shop at the nursing home).

You don't have a "For Sale" sign in it, do you? That could be the problem, better check.

I once put a For Sale sign in front of my mother's house & got all the neighbors asking her why she was moving. It was pretty funny since I'd take it down before she came home & she never saw it.

Not for anything, but one of those "kids" almost got me once.  It was about 5 years ago, I had just gotten the car back from paint and it looked like shit.  I was so down that I had it outside under a cover.  a kid came and asked and I actually thought about it for about 5 seconds.  then I dropped a couple hundred having the car wetsanded and buffed out and all was well.

moral of the story to you young guys: keep asking, so what if you annoy some people.  you might catch the right guy on the right and get a good deal.

I've been bugging the crap out of the owner of a '69 hemi charger cause he works on it very little at a time and another owner of an org '68 hemi cuda s/s car but he just doesn't care. My dad offered him 10,000 2 yrs ago but he was attached to it to much cause he was the org owner. The Barracuda is another story

In my experience, "NOT FOR SALE!" doesn't work very well. 

It usually means the kids will go right on asking you anyway, and then they'll get annoyed when you claim that the car is worth the "unreasonable amount" that it actually is.

I just say no, it's not for sale.  Kinda flattering that other people want my car, really.  I've never had anyone ask more than once, except as a joke.

I ask people all the time if their car is FOR SALE, and people ask me if my cars are FOR SALE.  That is what you have to do to find out.  Maybe your car appears abandoned it the back yard, or maybe it really looks like it is only worth $1300 bucks. 
The only way people are going to find out is to ask.

The other thing I am wondering is why  does this kid have your phone number???

no its actually in BACKYARD. Little punk didnt have much to do so he was walking around sneaking around people's yards, checking out what they got. That more what pisses me off than lowball offer. And he was pushy too, insisting how he wants to check it out etc under hood. And I told him its real R/T with 440, cant buy 74 318 in good condition for $1300 nowadays

So the back yards in Spokane aren't outdoors? I'm just saying if you were taking better care of the car under a car cover, in a garage or carport, etc., you wouldn't have a problem and you'd be killiing two birds with one stone.

I was pulling into my neighborhood one day and this guy hangs half his body out of his truck trying to get my attention.  "Just name your price- I'll pay!" he said.  I just chuckled and yelled out "Thank you, but she isn't for sale- I waited 20 years to get one of these!" He just smiled back and shook his head in agreement.

I find it flattering when people make offers for my baby.
