But didn't it seem like it was always shooting well right of the sight?

You also have to remember that their is the gunner and then the pilot. Add to that probably anywhere up to 2000 feet up in air while moving doesn't make for the most precise of shoot.  :icon_smile_big:

I just figured with the fancy electronic display and the shoot were you look technology, we might have built a little more into that sight.   Remember, the Norden Bomb sight was compensating  for speed and distance 70 years ago.

On Ft. Campbell they use the highways to navigate on post. One day I had to guard the road to a M-16 live-fire range. (being a 60 gunner) Smoking and joking.. and along comes a AH-64. It was about 10 feet off the pavement coming down the road at me. I will ever forget the sight.

Not yet.

If we did a show of force over there, most of ISIS wouldn't even be a threat.  Intimidation is a powerful tool that we haven't used over there, since the Shock and Awe attack on Hussein.

:Twocents:

"Shock & Awe" is a catchy name for terrorist attacks from our side.  We kill civilians & destroy buildings with bombs instead of butcher knives & suicide IEDs.

Bombing raids & destruction are not as shocking & aweing to people who have been surrounded by military action & dysfunctional infrastructure their whole lives.  We could make some messes over there to prove we're pissed off but that's all we would be doing.  Those guerrilla fighters don't have nice cities & quiet stable home lives to lose.

A show of force doesn't always mean an assault.  If that was the case, Ferguson would have been a lot more deadlier.

Mike DC

I see your point.

But I'm not convinced the show of force in Ferguson accomplished much either.

It's hard to beat or intimidate somebody that's got nothing to lose or doesn't care.   We can never beat/win a people like that.   They will never see our way and are willing and will die because of that.   So, there's only one way to deal with a person/people like that. ......eliminate them completely or look the other way and leave them alone.   There is no in between.   Unfortunately it's a fight that cannot be won.     :rotz:

This doesn't have to be fought at all.  Islamic extremist groups lash out at us because we screw around with politics in their region.  The religion thing is an excuse.

Then people need to be prepared to help the willing.

Sure it did, It gave a lot of stores a ton of tax deductions for loss of business.   :rotz:
