I got lucky and bought a 66 charger with a 361 4 speed....silver car with red interior..102,000 original one owner miles.. no rust but hasn't been garaged since 2004 so its faded bad..whats something like that worth? will the 361 and 4 speed be a fun combination? im pretty sure it has the 3.55 suregrip in it..im not familiar with a 361 and 4 speed for performance or if the thing is rare or worth anyting...

What makes it all worse, it's at a Used car lot.  :rotz:

I had fun with my 67 and it was a great car but the fastbacks just do not bring money.

400sforever

ya those bodies are just not something I have to have but the one I bought was 4 miles from me and the guy was going to just sell the car to a scrapper. He heard I had some chargers so he told me to come look and make an offer if I was interested...so I ended up offering him $750 and he took it...I haven't tried started it yet...ill see if I can get some pictures on here

Please do, you might end up being surprised and grow to like the car a bunch too.

400sforever

here are some pictures of the 66 charger 361 4 speed as I found it!

contrary to what it may seem, the car has no rust holes anywhere...nothing in floors, fenders or quarters..it was a silver car with red interior...102,000 miles

As for the first one, yes overpriced. Looks like a scratch on the right front fender too.

As for the second one in the weeds, $750 is a killer deal for that car. The 361 4-speed is very rare. And $750 is not bad for a complete car even in rough but restorable shape. Get it back on the road where it belongs and you may be surprised how it grows on you.

well sweet! that's good news to hear! the interior is all there and unmolested in it..i think a good cleaning would actually give it driver quality status if you can live with a rip in the old seat vinyl. I will have to try to get it running next and go from there

Exactly. Fastback Dodge Coronet.

Sadly thats what everyone thinks.  There are far too many differences between the two that it always puzzles me that people call the 66-67 Charger nothing but a Coronet with a fastback.  The 68-70 have far more commonality with the Coronet yet no one ever says the 69 is just a Coronet with some different sheet metal.

Take a quarter panel, door, even fender (save for headlights), and swap them between a '66-67 Charger and '66-67 Coronet. All body lines line up.

Now try this with a '68-'70 Charger and Coronet.

Everybody understands body lines, it's the purists (fans of the first gens), that have an issue with the obvious..Hell, even Dodge states they started with the Coronet platform and changed a few things to call it a Charger.
in 68, it became the model that shared no body panels with any other car. A buddy in H.S. after I wrecked my '67 Plymouth hadda '66 Coronet and needed a Dr. door. Yes, it bolted right up.

 Oh yeah, sure they do... good luck with that!

Your right though... 68 Chargers & Coronets do not have much in common with each other when it comes to body lines.
