I still think it is a nice looking car.

I would rate it kind of average. Certainly not a "Cream Puff" and also not the "Debris Field Car".

I would observe it suffers in 3 areas, driven daily at one point in the Midwest, poor storage, and a very misleading online introduction.

The first caused the body panel rust (FWIW if the quarters have that kind of rust likely the headlight buckets have issues too), the second rears it's head as bottom side rust-plus general falling apart of the car- the interior as an example. At least it was not under a blue tarp in a field.

The online description seems to be about as bad as I have seen. We have gone from a #'s car, to one where someone knew from months ago that "Gurus" had said the motor didn't match. Both jacks really not there, is the least challenge. Neither fish or fowl car. Lots of reproduction parts it appears. After the description has fallen apart, should anyone believe it has the "highest quality" workmanship or parts? The sales price will probably reflect that. I wouldn't hold it against anyone to sell the broadcast sheet given the description.

Very nice color combination. The White interior is great!

I am pretty much of the opposite opinion. I haven't minded the way this one has unfolded and I think the sellers "agent" on here has been upfront with information and pictures. Anyone spending that kind of money should hopefully view the car in person before pulling the trigger.

It is nice to follow this one from start to finish, first the car was "discovered", the Aero guys on here traced the known history, a couple of pics and now some better detailed ones. Any serious buyer now has access to a full Galen report. I really don't see how this could have gone better. There is a lot of info here to make an informed decision if you would like to pursue viewing the car.

I really don't see how you could ask for more, I really like the fact that he put the Daytona "out there" on this site where soo many of the members appreciate the car. Hopefully someone on here gets the car.

The early days of high-dollared pedigrees has faded. Is it gone? Not 100%

I think that for the better grade cars, the strong money is back.     This will be reinforced in the next couple of weeks when a variety of important cars hit the auctions in AZ and FL.

that's the "Not" I'm talking about.. When the big Wellborn and Pratt auctions happen, there will be a LOT of higher-end pedigreed cars in a realtively short amount of time out on the market, sort of a flood of "higher-end" cars. It'll be interesting what that'll do for the tiers below them.......

It is a lot of cars, but I think the market will absorb them.   There's money out there for the right cars.   Consider that B-J alone is 1600 cars.   That that is just one of the events going on in the area.    There's almost no crossover between the Pratte and Wellborn cars.   Many are "one of one" cars that are otherwise unattainable.    Tim has a lot of 1971 Chargers available, but most of those are unique.   The first, the last, the Motor Trend test car, the sunroof car.    All Tim's cars have reserves, so as he said, he may be bringing some home from Florida.

I guess my biggest point is that the enjoyment of significantly lower prices we saw in recent years was not going to last forever.    Unless you find a seller who is not paying attention,  those days have now passed.    If you were lucky to buy a good car at those prices, you did well  :2thumbs:.

All of that said, a rising tide usually floats all boats.     Daytona owners should be rooting for the bronze Hemi to get close to one million.  It has to move the needle a little bit for the rest.

For how forthcoming and responsive the individual representing the car has been some of you sure are looking for controversy and keyboard battles. Good riddance!

Even if the initial description could be taken as misleading, as more information has come available and as he spends more time around the car he has shared everything.

I think one of Turbans posts nailed it. This is one you can drive. I hope the new owner treats it to the street instead of the rotisserie.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you're in the market to buy an aero car and you haven't checked here on dodgecharger.com first - - then you're probably making a mistake. :2thumbs:

Very good point. I also appreciate the seller's composure in his posts and providing additional information and answering questions.  That's all good stuff. :icon_smile_wink:

IMO and based on information provided. It will sell comfortably in the $100-110K range ,,,, you might $120k to someone who has to have this color combo .

The project to done car price ratio is out the window on Daytonas . Anything under $100 K is to low

At the $75K mentioned earlier, it would be gone in 24 hours,,,, or less

:iagree:

As I have said before, actual sale pricing on Daytonas that could use some improvement are inflated compared to the restored value.    You can't simply take the restored value, subtract your potential costs and arrive at the selling price.   It doesn't work that way.

:iagree:    x2       Project and driver Daytona's are more in demand than some finished cars I think simply as its been said before because they are more "affordable". This would definitely be a prime example of that as it would be a nice driver / later on restoration project if desired.

yes we are working on getting it running now, installing a bunch of the org parts the owner had for it.
org intake, valve covers, carb, coil, plug wires, alt, fuel line, and new spark plugs.
Compression test showed good compression  in 6  and a little low in the number 5 and
6 cly.   just down a little so I thin once running should seat and be fine.  primed the oil pump
seems to have oil pressure.so we hope to fire it up tomorrow.
we rebuilt the correct carb for it also.
I told the owner to come up with his new price asap.
we are taking offers.  have  a 6 figure offer already but hoping
for a better price once we are all done with it.

"have  a 6 figure offer already but hoping

I don't understand :scratchchin: Sound like 6 figures is too good to be true, Why do anymore work to get same money after adding in the more time and money invested. :shruggy: " A bird in hand is worth............."

The big money came back for the top 1% of cars when the top 1% of the rich got their money back thanks to the stock market hitting record highs.  So far it's done very little for anything below a #1 car.  The yearning masses paying dumb money for subpar cars won't come back to muscle cars--it's moved on.  If you have any spare dollars right now go buy an aircooled 911 or an early 230, 250 or 280SL.  Who knows what the flavor of the month will be after those crash back down.

Just about every record set in '07 was broken in the last 18 months.  Those with money have deeeeeep pockets for the best, and building a multifaceted car collection is a current fad.  Brand loyalty has moved on in favor of having the best and the rarest no matter where it's from.

John...

Looks nice.... This is positive critiquing if I may..

1. get ride of the orange oil filler canister ( paint it at least black, usually chrome )
2. get a proper radiator cap
3. get rid of the newer style ballast resistor.

Make a call to your favorite reproduction shop, most places have them. ( I usually get my stuff from Jaime at MegaPartsUSA )..

Hard to tell from pic but looks like lots of light overspray on parts in engine compartment. Like green on black wiring harness ect, ect. Has engine compartment ever been repainted? LEON.

Maybe it hasn't ever been repainted??  :scratchchin:  A "correctly" restored OE or survivor Daytona should / would have overspray on engine compartment components. Just saying its a possibility anyway. Are those the original heater hoses??

gtx6970

Change the oil breather cap to a chrome one, put some quality battery cables on it (the auto parts store cable ends are an issue waiting to happen ) then drive the snot out of it

Theres lots more , but IMO nothing else warrents it as a driver :2thumbs:

The Engine compartment was not painted body color with any engine compartment components installed that I'm aware of. Do you have any examples? And I'm not talking about orange engine color on ends of battery cables or exhaust manifolds, ect. LEON.

The driver's side valve cover is NOT correct. It's a c-body piece.

(OE Daytona) body color overspray would be the result of modifications & paint done at Creative during conversion

After the front end conversion was done they basically threw a blanket over the engine and then painted under the hood and the rest of the front end. Over spraying the wiring, heater hoses and windshield washer bottle to a certain extent. Here is a shot of hemigeno's car after restoration showing the overspray. His thread on the car (92 pages) elaborates on this more.

I guess I had a Synapse Misfire & forgot these were converted at Creative Industries so I guess it's possible. My Mistake. LEON.
