Rebuilding alternators

Hey gang.
I have a '69 built-date alternator and I'd like to keep it. I'm suspecting one of the bearings are bad. Any threads on rebuilding alternators? I'm sure it is relatively easy, just would like to see it documented if out there...

Hi,

You'll find everything you need in the factory service manual. You'll need a puller to get the pulley off and a press to get the bearings on and off. You might as well change both front and rear bearings while your at it. the bearings are readily available and not expensive. You might be able to find a local alternator shop that can do it for you also.

If I remember correctly it was 60 days or less.

I had a local Alt/Starter rebuild shop s. of Detroit (Tel-West Auto Elect.) rebuild my alt for a '72 Ford for $75. Check around.
