Wrong panels on my car ?

Just starting to install my new front and rear door panels in  a 69 Plymouth satellite.They said that they fit all 68 - 70 bodies ..but something aint right.

If I try to tuck them up under the chrome trim they don't line up and the ends are "capped" .I have temporarily mounted them in their "natural/correct '' position but they sit over the top of the chrome trim.Did the roadrunners have these chrome trim ?

Options might be to open up the ends of the chrome and try to force them out a bit so that the new panels fit up into them.Or the other option might be to remove the chrome trim and mount them somehow without it .

Road Runners had a chrome strip there.  Who did you get the panels from, did you ask them as well?

They do not fit because they are the wrong door panels for a 69 satelite/road runner

Looks like I definitely have the wrong panels , I have had the panels sitting for over a year and have already cut the holes in to of them ...ouch

with the panel fitted & being too high at the top , does it fit exactly at the bottem ?

Pretty close , I was thinking that I might just somehow trim the tops as they are pretty much at the correct height and if the holes line up at the bottom .........bonus, if not I will probably just use black panel screws and hold em down that way .

yes that's what I was about to sagest  ,  carefully un stick the vinyl at the top , trim the backing board & re stick the vinyl

Used a plastic chrome removal tool and bent up the chrome tabs all the way along the edge of each panel .this destressed the panels and I  realigned each clip individually for the holes and gave them a good old fashioned whack and went into place beautifully

Yep , you are dead right , discovered this by accident and it all went so much smoother
