Does ethanol build up that quick in our carb enginez? I drove roughly 6k miles on charger and looked qt float bowls and I have white crustys in there already.  I drive this car alot and fill her up minimal 1x per week. Its not like my gas sits there.....

I was planning to use E85 in mine so I have been thinking about possible problems with ethanol use. I have just bought a Charger and currently it doesn't have a fuel tank at all (its not in running order otherwise either). I was hesitating if I should buy a new replacement tank or install a low profile Jaz fuel cell to hang under the trunk (I don't want it inside the trunk).

I noticed that AMD is selling a tank for 68-70 (Spectra Steel OE Replacement Fuel Tank) but there's a mentioning:

"For use with gasoline containing up to 20% ethanol (E20) and diesel containing up to 5% biodiesel (B5)"

So the new replacement tank seem to be incompatible with E85.

Could the white stuff in your carburetor be some removed zinc residues from the tank? I would think that if the new tank can withstand 20% of ethanol it wouldn't immediately be destroyed with higher concentration.

Ethanol absorbs water and water can corrode. I'm looking into stabilizers. (?)

I use Starbrite it is made by Startron.  The absolute best enzyme fuel treatment available.  Marine stores carry it and autzone carries it as well.

AHHHH........ethanol absorbs the H2O and then alcohol evaporates from the bowl leaving nasty corrosive sludge to build up. Looks like my planned tank and lines replacement may be stainless steel.

The more air space in your system the more water is absorbed.  Makes for a corrosive environment along with H2O in your fuel.  Thats is why for long term storage you want to fill the tank.  You can replace tank lines etc. all day long. It is prudent to use a good stabilizer (Starbrite) to inhibit that phase separation in an effort to limit H2O and corrosiveness in your fuel.  H2O does not compress well.

For all of my resto's I always use stainless for fuel and brakes.  In reality it is cheap insurance for your ride.

No question on that I wish we had the same access!  Add a little marvel mystery oil to that and your done.

I have a 1" phenolic spacer on mine, prevents hot start issues. Been on the car long before ethanol came into play. Carb stays cool to the touch even on 100° summer days

Based on your pictures it is obvious (carb, engine bay) you drive your ride a lot

She gets driven.... ALOT!!!! and i am very hard on it. I would cringe at the thought of how much fuel goes through that engine annually..... lol.

This one... lol. 2" element with the filter lid. Torker 383 intake. All clears stock hood. I cant recall if it is a drop base on not. Im pretty sure it isnt.

Alright then i must seriously must buy ethanol fighter for each fill up i take it.

I run non ethanol 90% of the time to avoid such issues. Hopefully you've got a station in your area that carry it.
