I am looking for some help.
My superbird had dealer add on AC which was removed. The decal is still on the rear glass and I have a pamphlet for the AC. Would anyone have a picture or something to id which unit I would need to find and where to install it?

Thanks for any help

I can't find a decent picture right now...basically, it was a large separate unit that bolted under the dash in the center. If your car had a console, the front half was cut off with a saw to make room for the units to bolt to the dash. Rubber hoses were run through the firewall around the wiper motor and connected to a "York" style compressor. This style comp was square and was mainly used on Fords for many years.

I found the owners instructions pamphlet:
Airtemp
Deluxe model 'F'
automotive air conditioning
system

Wow, that would not be good.
Now it makes sense that he said that he reinstalled the console when he took the AC off.

I believe this underhood bracket set was used for dealer add-on air in 1967-1969, 383's and 440's. At least that is what the instruction sheet suggests. I am not sure if its use carried over to 1970.

I don't blame you I would not cut my console either.....

One of the later units 71-75 looked thinner but would not be period correct. I could deal with that easier than cutting my console... I thought it would be neat to reinstall the dealer AC but no way am I cutting the console, never easy is it...... I think I will leave it alone and let the next owner decide if they want to reinstall the dealer AC.

Thank you for all the help guys......

I used to collect below dash units like those (knobs in the middle or to the left) back in the 80's. The easiest place to find them were in ambulances of all places. Just as you step in from the side door(s) they where up high to the right just behind the division wall of the cab iirc.  They had looong hoses! lol

A good friends dad got the best one I had back in those years as a returned favor. Mounted it in his big strip mine mechanic's truck.

I saw one years ago that I wish I had picked up. The unit was very thin across the console until the far right side, there it got larger for the blower and evaporator...yet the controls were on the far left end of the unit...it would have fit perfectly in the car
