Gents,

I have installed a 6.4 Gen III Hemi and am keeping my power steering box - rebuilt by firm feel.  I think the modern pump is too high and I need to get a bypass valve for the pump.  Have any of you had this issue and can anyone recommend a valve?

Many thanks,

Darren

look up tech artical i think in mopar action ,
62 dodge with modern pump install , pressure valve in the pump pressure side , they show you how to change pressure with just shims or washers added or removed ,
good trick so you can just get new model pump brand new instead of playing with 40 + year old pumps and leaks

Here's what a lot of street rodders use.

I think there's a limit on how much the pressure can be reduced by tweaking the factory relief valve.

Also,  Bouchillon  offers a low-pressure pump...not sure what it costs.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Or you can get away with using a corvette pump. Hotwire auto has the number I think.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Put a power steering tester on the new pump and there is no pressure.  Looks like a bad brand new pump . . .  hopefull a swap will fix.  I'll post results.  Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

A hydroboost will bleed off the excess pressure as well...     otherwise shim the bypass valve - there are a few options out there.
1968 Dodge Charger - 6.1L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.55 Sure Grip

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1964 Dodge Polara 500 - 440 / 4-speed / 3.91 Sure Grip

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

Gents, just a quick update with resolution, the new pump was bad.  Received another and it works flawlessly, the firm feel stage 3 box feels very nice with a new 6.4 pump.  Many thanks to all for help with the troubleshooting.  Best, and Merry Christmas, Darren
