Okay so I'm running test with my new harnesses for my 68 Charger, underdash, engine, light foward, rear tail panel lights ect. And I've never noticed this before but the front parking lights go off when the head lights are in the "on" position. Is this supposed to happen? Also in 1968 are the front lights supposed to be amber or white bulbs? I took it upon myself to investigate for the 68 Chargers by viewing some classic movies that had night shots of 68 Chargers to see if the parking lights were off if the head lights were on. Movies like "Christine", "Blade", "Blade II", "Blade III", "Rush" ect. The only night shot in the movie "Bullit" was of the tail panel so no go there. All of them showed that the parking lights are off when the head light were on.

This got me curious so I did the same for 1969 Chargers, "Drive Angry", "The Forsaken", Dukes of Hazzard TV episode "Double Sting" ect. Two of those three films show the parking lights on with head lights on. And they were amber. "Double Sting" was the one that showed the parking lights being off. But then again that could've been a 68 Charger as you all well know that DOH used both 68 & 69 Chargers. "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" had no night shots.

So was this a Chrysler thing from one year to the next? Or are 68's supposed to be on when head lights are on? I didn't even attempt to do 70 Chargers.

My front parking lights do come on in the park position of the light switch.

Thanks

It is correct, it began in 69 that the running lights stayed on with the headlights.

Go figure on a 68 with head lights on you have no front running lights yet you have all four side marker lights on. On a 69 with head lights on you have front running lights yet you have no side marker lights on just reflectors :shruggy:

Oh almost forgot, 68 amber or white :shruggy:
