Please explain the WH23-4 Charger Rallye Pkg number for 2 Door HDTP of 105. I assumed that if the Charger had the 360 HP or the 440-4, it was a Rallye. I see the WL21-4 number for the Rallye package is 336 so it's the same kind of deal. If I'm reading this correctly, and I may not be, that isn't the case. Any engine could be ordered without the Rallye package. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Good question.  Been brought up in several threads.
The best answer I can give is "it was a typo".

         hardtop | coupe

'72-    3,431    | 460
'73-    6,019    | 985
'74-    x,105    | 336

Since '72/'73 seems to be a factor of ~7.  If the 105 is correct I'd guess 2,105
:shruggy:

Hopefully the other numbers are reliable on this chart.

That 105 RALLYE number is totally out to lunch. You are right. Any '74 WL21 or WH23 with an L or U engine code would require the Rallye Package.

im suspicious of that high of a number too... I just bought a 74 rallye charger 400 4 spd car, factory white with red stripe with a factory painted white top rather than any vinyl. Car was ordered from mr. norms also and still has 77,000 original miles. I was told that there were only around 45 '74 rallye chargers with a 4 speed, so if you go breaking that down by engine and paint colors, they'd have to get pretty rare. anyone else heard anything similar?

Amazing color combo! 45 is way too low though. It would be cool knowing I own 10% of all '74 Rallye 4 speeds produced, but the numbers are much higher.

Yes that is the white charger! Looks like I wasn't the only one watching it. I don't know, but I think 74 4 speed ralllyes are more rare than you think. We should start a 74 rallye 4 speed registry only

Where is this registry site?
<edit>

There was a post on another site where someone wanted to start one up for 73-74 sunroof and/or 4 speed cars.  Not sure if it ever took off

I took my triple black 74 Charger rally to the Music City mopar car show this fall. It has the 440HP original drive train with 98xxx miles on it. The vin is a U code car, a vendor at the show told me he thought all the rally U codes came through Mr. Norm's in Chicago ....Sounded a little out there for me but what do I know. can anyone verify this a true and how can one confirm or deny if it is? Did Mr. Norm's keep records of the vin's he sold?
I agree I don't think many 74 Rally's were built, How many triple blacks 440HP auto were built?
Thanks....

sdweatherman

I would be surprised if all 440 Rallyes came through MR. Norms. That doesn't sound right to me. On the Plymouth side, there were 749 Road Runner GTX's w/440-Auto produced in 1973, and 386 RRGTX's w/440-Auto in 1974. With the overall Charger production numbers higher than Plymouth, I would suspect the 73-74 Charger 440-Auto numbers to be slightly higher than the Plymouth's. Color breakdown on the 440-Auto cars would be difficult to determine at best. Someone with some passion should start a registry for the 71-74 Chargers - or a couple individuals breaking it down into 71-72, and 73-74 registries. Interest in these cars will only increase with time. There was an individual on here or maybe on the 71-74 Charger site that wanted to get going on a 4spd and sunroof reg, but I don't know if there is any progress there. I am also working on the early power sunroof cars - 1969 through 1972 - and will be expanding into the 1973 & 1974 B-bodies sometime in 2015. The 1970-1972 E-bodies are keeping me busy right now.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Scott.

Nice. Car sold for 28,600.   Lot better than the last time it was on it.  I think it sold for 18k the last time I seen it go through

I think this is where I got the 18K from.

Basically the WIW value on the car on an old thread when the car was for sale on ebay for over 60k.

Men Of MOPAR:  apologies to any ladies being referred to as Men.  Just saw this site as I was looking for info on my '74 Charger 360 CID, 4-SP, 850 CTQ.  Bought her in March 1974 while I was still a first classman at USMA; held it this long; maybe the only member of my class who still owns his first car.  The value of the car is secondary to its sentimental and status value; I just won't let her go!  So I try to get every bit of info I can-especially how many might still be in existence-I believe the word is "survivors".  So from what I've read so far, this site has a lot of smart guys.  Perhaps you can share any and all info-I don't have any pix as I'm not too flashy with this computer "stuff".  May have to get my 4 yr old grand daughter to help me out.  Well, I'm in sort of speak and looking forward to some new info that will make my Charger that much more interesting.  Thanks to any and all in advance for your input.

Welcome, The Dodge. How's the 4 year old making out with the pics? Looking forward to hearing more about your car. I'm a big fan of the 360 4 speeds. Had 3 at one point. One in Gold, a Sienna Metallic, and a green one. Sold the green one however.

I know this is an old thread, but some of us at 3rd gen board are trying to get the 71/74 breakdown numbers back.... @EccentricMagpies where you found the 74 breakdown?

We had them there but the old board owner died couple of years ago and he had those posted on his PB image host account and they are lost now.
