72 charger rear question! HELP PLEASE!

I am restoring my 72 charger se. I want to put an 8 3/4 rear end under it but those are hard to find in my area to fit a 72 charger. So I have heard that with a spring relocation kit, you could get a 68-70 housing (which is narrower I've been told) and put it under my 72 thus allowing for a 15X10 rim to clear the inside of the quarter panel. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS OR KNOW THAT IT WORKS?! any info would be great--thanks a lot!

Be prepared to possibly get into shimming the pinion angle too?? I'm not sure but could be into some vibration issues. What about a B body 9 1/4" suregrip? good tough diff

The Charger in your pic's is a 73/74 Charger ? "Be prepared to possibly get into shimming the pinion angle too" that won't be a issue here.  No worries there.

Yep the housing will work, not sure if the spring relocation kit lines up with locations of the other housing though. You might have to also move the perches on the housing to line things up properly.

YA the car in my pic is a 74 charger. .ive got 10 chargers. . The 72 is tore down at the moment!

back to the 72 rear end question...what did dodge gain by adding the rubber piece to the spring system on the 73/74 rear ends? any better ride or performance, or just for noise control?

Better ride is supposedly the main reason as it softened the ride up so you didn't feel the road as much.   Same goes for the k-frame isolation pucks and not directly bolted to the frame like all the other years.
