WIW thread for a 'Daytona' hood posted at http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,115006.0.html today also.

I posted that also in case some of the aero guys did not notice a 70 Charger hood article  :2thumbs:

Would be good to see the bottom half of a 69, 70 and your hood in question, at the best rez you can get on here.
Anyone have a 69 they can post?
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Sublime/Sixpack

Interesting thread.  Had someone asked me if my '70 Charger's hood had ribs on it I would have guessed no.  I had to go into the garage and check, it has ribs (car was built in September 1969).
Learned something new today.

Are you saying 69 (really a 70 hood)  were smooth/no ribs with hood pins are from a Daytona only ?

No ribs is a Daytona hood. :Twocents:
Agreed

ANDDDDD is that a foxbody notchback mustang in the background ? :scratchchin:

nevermind i see its a charger roof. Looked similar.

Come on now

it is a Dodge hood and you think you see a mustang  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Lol i have a 70 and a notchback. Roof line at a glance is quite similar.

2 70 hoods side by side
Only difference is the ribs and the oval holes at the bottom
All other holes are the same

Hood has been painted once and it looks like a lighter colour on top

So sublime's hood is a hood that was basically built for the Daytona with the factory using the leftovers' up on the early '70s'?

So does that mean there's 3 types of hoods for the 2nd generation?

1.  Daytona hood
2.  '70 Charger hood
3.  '68 & '69 hood (small scallops)

That settles it.  I have an August 18 car.  I haven't checked yet since I have a pile of towels sitting on the hood that I'm about to remove.

I can't see ribs on either hood.  :shruggy:

In the picture of the 2 hoods together the one on the left is the same hood in my very first picture in this thread and you can see the ribs  :2thumbs:

The reason for the picture of the 2 hoods side by side was so you could see the 2 holes near the bottom that are missing on the hood on the right

Take a look again. Aren't you missing two holes up top on the latch end of hood above the hood pin holes on the 70 Charger hood?  :coolgleamA:

tan top

take a look at this hood  :scratchchin:  ribs & no holes , looks like original paint  :shruggy:

My car's a 2nd week of production rig & it has the ribs.  '69 tail lights.  Chrome door handle push button (oops, nm, wrong year)   ;)

I was pushing it trying to hold it open long enough to look for ribs so I wasn't able to do any hole reconnaissance.

Ok I'm thinking there were 3 different versions of the Daytona / 70 Charger hood.

1. Sublime's brown hood pictured. No ribs and no holes. Essentially a Daytona hood however this one came on a 70 Charger as it has no hood pin holes as a Daytona hood would have had. Apparently at least one 70 Charger came with this hood.

2. Tan Top's blue hood. Has ribs but none of the 4 extra holes. My guess early 1970 cars got these.

3. Sublime's gray hood. Has ribs and all 4 holes. The later version and from my experience the largest percentage of 1970 hoods.

What the production date break is between #2 and #3 I don't know.

Did XP29R0G100001 exist in "Sublime's" neighborhood at anytime?  :scratchchin:

Dodge Don

My hood is like the one Tan Top posted....has ribs, only 2 holes for hood pins and no holes at bottom for hood turn signal wiring (which my car came with). Early build September 8th 69.
