This happened on the back glass of my 69........ Wound up using chunks of the butyl strip in the spots. Worked perfect and the trim is as tight as it was when I installed it three years ago.

As stated, it can be overcome. The windshield adhesive can be used to glue the trim on in spots if needed. Be sure to seal up the clip hole.

In my opinion it needs to come out & done right. Nothing I hate more, or pet peeve, is when people try to rig it to work with Butyl, Windshield glue, ect, ect, ect. Because then somebody like me restoring these cars has to deal with trying to remove this glued in chrome without bending it because some incompetant Idiot was a hack. LEON.

While not quite as adamant as Leon, I agree with him.  Using glue or any other type of adhesive is setting yourself up with big problems in the future if you ever have to change the windshield.

It's just really frustrating for somebody like me that has to deal with this problem constantly. If you glue, epoxy it in & don't ever try to remove then you don't have to worry about it, Just pay somebody like me to worry about it for you, & then I gotta listen to you complain how come my molding got bent :brickwall: :brickwall:

P.S. I've had some that had ZERO, None, Nada, Nothing for Clips. Instead just a ton or 5 tubes of Urethane used to glue the Windsheild & chrome on. Just a big mess & nightmare.

If he's missing a clip or two a small dollop of adhesive is simply an alternative. And can be removed by a competitant individual as easy - if not easier than working the proper clip. Perhaps you should charge more?

So how many are missing? It originally had at least 12 clips easy, maybe 20 all together. :scratchchin: :shruggy:

Hi Leon and other Charger Folks,

Don't worry fella, you won't be working on my Charger no matter what happens.
Its going to be CRUSHED ON MY DEMISE AND PUT INTO THE GRAVE WITH ME! :2thumbs:
So what happened with the missing clips?
The Charger was being sent over from LA with a new (screen) windshield fitted.
I forgot to check thay was all there before the Window Guy came.
He noticed some were missing in one corner area.
We looked everywhere around my fiends garage but we couldn't find any.

So he said he would put the window in without sealant so it can be removed again!
I now don't want to remove it for fear of breakage, so its got to be cut-out any ways, right???
