I feel for the guy.
That stinks that first he has to sell the project car he once loved. Then not nearly getting what he wanted for it trying to sell it as a car. Now he has to put up with all the pricks trying to lo-ball him on all his parts. Not to mention if he is checking this board and has to read about how 'retarted' he is and how he 'shouldnt own the car' on top of all of it.

One thing...I would be laughing at Yugo not with him.  Why doesn't Yugo run the Michigan plate or check the vin out before he makes accusations. IGNORANCE!

NUPE..The decklid I bought from him has body filler all on the bottom seam.  So thats what he was selling for.  So why not buy it?  It was cheap and always can throw it on a car.   He gave me a good deal..so I took it.  I don't make prices.  So why didn't anyone step up and buy the car when it was for sale?  Since there are a bunch of people that think it should be saved.  He is giving me a price for the parts that I am interested in.  Yes, I will review.  There are some good parts where I am willing to spend the money for.  Not like some guys that will offer someone a tenth of their asking price.  He wanted me to make an offer.  I told him no.  I wanted him to tell me what he wanted for the parts.  I am not looking to beat someone down on their parts.  If its a good part, I'll buy it.  Yeah, I find deals too.  Maybe some people need to get off their arse and do something.  Lets save all these cars from being parted out so there will be no parts for guys that want to get their cars restored. Go stir this!

I thought I would take a break from doing a budget/proposal that I am working on and see whats going on in the Charger world.  Instead of going home to rest, I have a board meeting tonight for an upcoming charity fundraiser.

No need to apologize, that was my first thought to, when someone makes such a bold statement.  But then thought it funny, knowing the rest of the story, and that this thread was already on here debating the parting out subject.

Yeah, some don't like it from a sentimental perspective, but then from the practical angle, personally I think he will end up with less money, "net" of all his hassle to disassemble and ship all the various parts. 

If he proves some of us wrong, I'll be amazed.

I think he will do ok.  He sold the motor and trans for $3,000.00, the bumpers on ebay should get at least $700.00 each, march pulleys $250.00.  He's already at $4,650.00.  From looking at the parts he had on the car.  I say he will clear $9,000-11,000.00.

I should have known better and just let it slide, but I had a hard day, I wrecked on the way to work this morning, just a fender bender but it tore my crap up and I got a ticket............ then when I got to work I found out I had been just laid off so I didn't have a job anymore so I have been running around all day trying to find a job, then when I get home my ole lady is riding my as$ wanting to remind me of the bills we have and the importance of a job and the sweet lovely ice cream topper of the day was this clown whom I have never met nor talked to before in my life calling me ignorant.  So yeah, I may have gone overboard a little and vented my days frustration and felt tons better afterwards. So yeah, as the second beer slowly ingests and my spring unwinds a bit I feel a lot better now. It is always the one who replies to the insult with insults that is to blame anyways, Right? I guess if I had said that about him first and he replied and called me ignorant then it would be his fault, but the order is reversed, that is what you are implying, right twilt?

I wouldn't want to offend you or make general insinuations, profile you or speak for you, so excuse me if you find my question to you offensive, distasteful, vulgar, obscene, derogatory or otherwise out of charactor or context. I do enjoy a pleasant conversation of and on a variety of subjects from time to time and would find your knowledge and expertise in Mopars and Dodge Chargers in general to be of the highest of standards and would not hesitate to ask your opinion on such subjects in the future if the need arises, that is assuming you would allow it. Back to the original subject matter............   Over the last couple days,  I have given additional consideration to this topic and realize that it could be ME doing the same or similiar thing.    

I`ve got a pair of 72`s that were originally 318/bench/column cars that i am more or less making into 72 Rallye clones . During that on going process, both of the have been, and will continue to be the recipients of many many XXpensive parts. Its not hard to spend close to $3000 just for  72 Rallye doors, bulge hood, Rallye tail lights, and a cut-out rear valance.  Once completed, these clone cars will certainly be far more valuable as a sum of parts than they will be whole. Come to think of it, they already are. 

While i hope that i will never have to sell or part them because of finances gone bad, it could happen. It can happen to anyone.

  Its not like it was a rare car..318. Someone will buy whatever is left of it and make a drag car I bet. A gutted shell is prime material for that and should sell for cheap plus I doubt the guy wants to keep a roller around so he will let it go for a reasonable price this time.

   You 3rd gen guys are just getting a taste of what it is like for us 2nd gen owners, as the price of the cars goes up so do the parts. Now it is worth some peoples time to part out a car many of us would save.

  who said anything about a solid shell? I said carcass, not shell.  A carcass is what is left after I`m done cutting off all the good parts with my trusty sawzall.
If you need a good shell............................find one and buy it   thats what everybody else has to do
