what is it (not spot the cat )

have had this for about 30 years and know nothing about it.

it looks like a 20's  bound suitcase right down to the leather handle  , its approx. 19" wide x 12 1/2 " deep and 9 1/2 " high

 it weighs approx. 60 lb. that is not a mistype this thing is heavy with a capitol H  
 it has a  circular Bakelite foot switch like a sowing machine and has a Bakelite and metal "probe" for want of a better name approx 12 " long  ,I will post pics of them when I go and take them  

I will let the pics do the talking , suggestions so far have ranged from an early surgical/cauterising tool    to one of the first multimeters . it is portable but I wouldn't want to carry it far

there are no wrong answers as no-one knows what it is

should have added at the start that my first real job was helping behind the scenes at the museum . first day first job was to clear out a store room this was in it I  was told to throw it in the skip , it went in the boot instead

So let me get this straight, one would insert the probe into one's a$$ and then power the unit and step on the foot switch?      

A friend told me there are videos on the www with more modern machines being used by women with a similar set up but they are not used for electric shock therapy.

love this stuff  Glad you held on to it.
It may not bring $ but surly should not be tossed. I get a kick out of the new stuff that comes out (but sad as well) as the older generations fail to inform the new ones about scams.
When something has been shown to produce results----Doctors approve---all natural---eco friendly---etc. It's the current hype to sell to those that just accept what a salesman has to say.
One of my favorite is a radio add selling microwave filters for your cell phone. This filter cartridge held a filter that when full (clogged with micro waves) can be replaced with a new one for a special low price. (most likely a high value but damn that-- we will sell for way less cause we care about your health --oops your money--)

I'm sure some will recall magnetic strips that when added to our fuel lines will align the fuel molecules. And as we all know (or should) molecules like to be aligned. They combust much better that way and like it.  BTW it works better on carbs than EFI. cause the high pressure of fuel injection pre aligns the molecules and little is to be gained by further magnetic alignment. ---Duh---

I had a good chat with Bob McCoy (since deceased) a few years back when tracking down the history of my "Depoloray"  His museum of questionable medical devices is/was a great collection of stuff like this.
If he didn't have one of these I'm sure he would have loved to add it to his museum.

   I still can't get over how heavy it is  and its supposed to be portable   

and its only taken 35 years to find out what it is
