I know this should be under the grille repair database thing but I can't find a reply specifically for what I need. My drivers side headlight door stop was broken off. I do not have the piece that broke off. What has been the best way to repair this besides getting another door? Sanding and painting my grille the next few days and need to get it repaired soon. First engine start up is tomorrow...

Thanks

Find an appropriate piece of black ABS plastic and pic up a Plasti-fix kit.
fabricate a replacement piece, weld it on, sand and paint that grille.
Many members have done this including myself and its a proper repair.  :Twocents:

In the past people have even used popsicle sticks. It's really hard to see in the car.

I used pop rivets and attached a L shaped piece of metal painted black you will never see it

I've repaired them this method several times now with success.
First made a template for the replacement tab out of thin cardboard, then transferred this to sheetmetal. Cut out the tab, and bend to shape. Make sure it fits by checking with the door on the opposite side.
Drill 1/8" holes thru the repair tab and into the grille door. Rivet in place in conjunction with a compatible adhesive, and grind the rivets flush.
I then used plastic repair material to build up the repair, sand to shape, prime and paint. Turns out to be a very sturdy repair.  :yesnod:
