How rare are these things?  What was the application?  I have one but don't know if its of any value to try and sell or just a common thing.

They were used on '70 California and '71 Federal...pretty rare as far as I know.

IIRC, the insides had a paper element that can crumble with age.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Why did I just think of Total Recall?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Thanks John, that explains it then as I got from a 71 440.

Are you talking about one like this? If so my chrome one must really be rare!  :D

The breather was part of the evaporative emissions system in the early 70's. Instead of using a carbon canister like most other manufacturers Chrysler decided to use the engine as a vapor storage canister. As you can imagine this was not a good situation. I heard stories of the engine backfiring causing a flame to be presented to the vapors in the engine.

Chrysler had a recall on these systems which likely makes any vehicle with the system still installed quite rare.
