Anyone out there have or know of a illustrated thread on the disassembly/assembly of the steering column? I want to install new upper and lower bearing assemblies on the column on my Daytona. Yes, I have a FSM, but I know sometimes things are easier if someone has chronicled the process on their own project.

Damn - I wish I was back at home - I have a step by step photo set somewhere ---    if you're just doing the upper and lower bearings the majority of the column can stay together.

lower bearing ? are you sure ? my 70 charger does not have one. Now you have me worried.

Lower bearing is the plastic collar that is at the bottom of the interior painted color tube that goes through the firewall.

A 1968-69 column lower bearing support IS  an actual bearing.

The 1970 piece is nothing but a dust shield with no bearing of any kind

I hope whatever that bracket hanging off the end is in the last pic is not supposed to be on a 68....because mine does not have that piece. What is it for?

It would if it had column shift automatic

just doing this now. the bottom bearing is back ordered at a lot of suppliers.

just got my upper bearing and the newly available plastic connector for the turn signal harness.
