I noted a 68 RT for only $48K at Atlas Muscle Cars (have read other threads).  I noted a few issues but I am novice compared to others here.  Interested in your thoughts on the car.  I noted the following potential issues/questions/value impacts but sure there is more or else this is a very decent price in today's market:

Non matching numbers though period correct motor;
No pictures of the underside of the car amongst the 63 photos presented....;
No backing for the rear seat;
Headliner is a bit out of sorts;
Finish of the dash (vin picture) is a bit unusual;

That price is top of the tree for an rt , this one not meeting that standard,
Trunk lid shot showing results of having rear impact damage , distortion of inner frame to trunk lid ,
Roof liner could be installed better ? Or is the original showing sag of old age ,
Seats recovered , but back boards are the old weathered distorted ill fitting ,
Some weird patches to trunk floor, if patched you could finish patches better than that ?

fy469rtse

Trunk floor has a nice layer of high fill , ? What's it covering up
I'd say a good original car with fresh paint or an older restoration with new paint , painted door catches
Could be the photo but in a couple off shots , drivers wheel looks out at the top,
bad alignment,
Dash in good shape , but not great, honest car tarted over is my view
Sorry if this offends , just my  :Twocents:

The trunk floor was replaced OR has alot of bondo on it. there should be more body plugs in the floor.

To me it seems they used the 2 piece trunk patch (I used it also thats wy I guess so). It also has only the 4 stamped in rounds where the 4 body plugs go that you see in the pictures. The other holes you need to know where they go or you wont notice ever.
It also seems like the two halves did'nt line up like they should since the single horizontal groove has a sag in it somewhere in the middle.

The headliner looks crooked and the placement of the seatcovers could be better.
Also sad the gauge cluster wasnt restored, so how about the 40+ year old wiring?

All things considered, I think it is a well presentable car and if it the real deal then its worth buying. alot of imperfections can be solved later on.
HOWEVER, the price is on the high side...

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

They had a child mask off the VIN area before painting the dash.

No offense taken at all - I am not considering buying, I was only looking for the forums expert opinion as I saw a few issues but not enough to support $48K based on other listings from other dealers including this one.  I find the level of knowledge here to be quite high, higher than the sellers!

Think about this:  All the mistake you can see versus all the mistakes you cannot see.  Never purchase a car without a personal or professional inspection first.  These "flippers" do as the name intends: buy low, restore cheaply, make a profit.

I think the color has been changed.

Yeah....   :rotz:

Atlas strikes again with an over priced flipper , just like the other one on here recently.

Originally FF1.   Too bad they didn't go with that again, it's a sweet color.

A few of the easy to spot low points.....not trying to be a dick, but $48K is a lot of jing....

They just added the pictures of the bottom... probably because of what you pointed out!
I missed the paint door jamb paint job special though.... I recall another one of their cars having the same paint job.

Car is on a 4 post lift so the rear suspension is loaded, however the yoke seems really far out on the transmission.  Wrong axle?

Overspray/masking mess on rear valence in under-shot of fuel tank.

Generally "chassis black" the hell out of it.

2" pipes after exhaust?

No fiberboard backer between seat and trunk.  Trunk latch painted.  No spare, no jack, no jack instructions.  Trunk weatherstrip installed wonky.

Door sill plate to lower back seat trim looks like it is missing.

No Pentastar!    :'(

I'm so tired of seeing these overpriced 'mascara' cars and I'm really tired of seeing the high dollar cars with faded gauges.   :P
