I had air shocks on it this spring until i found out about the issues they could cause not to mention the horrible ride they gave. I took the air shocks off and put a set of KYB on it and i used 2 sets of spring helpers one on top and one under the spring to get that rack back that the air shocks gave it. Between the pair it gave me about 3 ' of lift in the back, cant wait until spring to start to drive it again ..its been put away for the winter.

From what im told the shock mounts can break ,plus the ride was terrible.

i've had the air shocks on my car for 5 years and keep them around 50-60psi and i've had no issues. as far as the ride quality, what do you compare it too...
i've never NOT had air shocks, so i can't compare it to a car that doesn't have them. rides fine to me.
but if my mounts do break, i will probably be on here talking about it and swapping to regular.
keith88- your car in this thread looks good with the added helpers on it.

I had air shocks on a 70 that i had in the early 80s and never had an issue either but the car was a little over 10 years old at that point not 45. I have seen pictures of them ripped out but it did not happen to me. As for the ride its way better.. it used to have a kind of sway in it and did not like the handle at all and its not like that at all with out them.

The holes in the shock absorber crossmember were worn  thin so I welded heavy washers on the outside of each hole.  In hindsight I should have pushed son for a new piece instead of repairing it.
