Would like to get car insurance for my 68 charger. Who is the best company. Thanks Jeff

Grundy's, Heacock and Hagarty are all pretty much the same.
All offer "agreed upon value", flat bed towing etc.

I suggest you get quotes from each and go from there.  :Twocents:

I have American Collectors, 30k agreed value, no restrictions other than having to keep it in a locked garage when not driving it, cost me 260 a year. I have only had to make one small claim (had to get it towed home late one night), they give me no problems, and paid me quickly.

American Collector's here as well, there are other members also on here who are insured with them.
I've had to file 2 claims with them (unfortunately) over the past few decades I've been insured with them. They were excellent to deal with.

X3 for American Collector's. I have had them for 12 years and had no problem's.

Hagerty here.  I pay a bit over $300, valued at $30K and flat bed towing, but Michigan is always more expensive.  I have only called them once when the car died on me but got it running again a few minutes later so I canceled the flat bed.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I'm going to have to price American Collector's Insurance
next time around.

I have hagerty for over 15 years.  Shop around, your state of domicile and it's laws will factor into overall premium cost.  I could relay what I pay for a certain amount of coverage yearly but where you reside may be less or more.

I have a classic car policy offered through AAA.  I pay $119 per year and have the value of my car at 20K.  Never had to use it so far and I don't come anywhere near the miles they set.

I had a friend use his Hagerty insurance on some front suspension damage on his 71 Chevelle.  They rebuilt his whole engine and made the car's front suspension like new so I have heard they go beyond what other insurance companies cover.

I emailed Hagerty pics of my car with the Centerlines on it for a renewal and they went ballistic about how it's not stock anymore and it is now modified / custom and they have to write another policy, the guy on the other line was an idiot. I said wait, that's my friends car with the centerlines. Here's a pic of a black Charger with Magnum 500's and things were all good now that he was looking a stock factory car. I still have Hagerty for towing and 25K coverage at $299 a year. Just be cautious on what pics you send them.  :brickwall:

I've had Condon & Skelly since 1989 & content with the coverage. I never had to file a claim, but I've never heard anything negative about them before.

http://www.condonskelly.com/

They used to cover cars that were stock only, but now have street rod & modified coverage. I have 5 cars covered, & the annual price is roughly $400.

1968 Charger (In a project state) - Value at $4000
1968 Coronet 500 Convertible (In a project state) - Value at $2500
1969 Satellite Convertible (In a project state) - Value at $6000
1970 Road Runner - Value at $18,000
1971 Scamp Value at $5000

Agreed value coverage with the prices above.

Reviews are kind of useless unless the reviewer has filed a claim. I have Hagerty and they've been great but other than tow my pickup once all I've done is send them money.

I have ANPAC (American National & Property), agreed value $40,000 and my premium was $360 year round.......had a bastard ding my front driver side fender 2 months ago, took it to the shop of my choice and payment was prompt....they priced it put to about $2600 and everyone was happy.

I had American collectors for 20+ years and never filed a claim with them, for being such a good customer I was rewarded with a rate increase of $120 after they were bought out by another company.
I decided to go shopping and found not only the best rate at Condon & Skelley(they beat my old rate at Amer. Coll. by $35) by much better coverage. No hassle whatsoever making the transition. :Twocents:

I have several cars insured by American Classic Car Insurance. I did not know they were bought out. Same name. No raise in my insurance  :scratchchin:

Have you checked out the National Corvette Museum Insurance Company, through the NCM and underwritten by American Modern Insurance.

I have used these guys for many years, and they beat the quotes of others. Their insurance agents are prompt and knowledgeable.

Here's their website: http://www.ncminsurance.com

They were just at the MCACN Show this past week, and support the classic car hobby well.

Agreed value policies are not all equal. Give Adam or Bobbie Jo a call, as I am sure they can help.  :Twocents:

Hagerty here. Never filed a claim so cant say how they would handle it.

Be careful with Hagerty.  They didn't renew my coverage because the wife had two tickets (in her car, not mine).  My wife doesn't drive my Charger, never has, never will.  She can't drive a stick car.  She's 4'11".  I doubt that she can even push the clutch all the way to the floor.
Hagerty seems to now count everyone in the household as a driver of your classic car.  If you have teenagers they probably won't even insure your car.
I had them for 7 years.  One claim for a blown tire.  No other claims, no tickets, no nothing.
I would not recommend them.

If she was labeled on your policy as a "driver" and not excluded.  Then yes they will look at that persons druvinig record.  Are they suppose to assume she never drives it?

Her "druvinig" record no. Who lets their old lady drive our 40 plus year old cars anyway ?

Unfortunately, it doesnt matter is she drives it or not. They look at the driving records of EVERYONE in the household. I got a policy with them again a few weeks ago and they started not to cover me because my step-son (who is 21) got a speeding ticket back in the summer. They wanted to know how fast he was going. Said hell if I know and it shouldnt matter, he will never drive it. After they talked to their underwriter they finally called back and said they would cover me.

I needed coverage right then when I called ( it takes a few days with some companies) or I would have told them to shove it. Next year I will probably take my business somewhere else.

Are we required to list everyone in the household, whether they drive the car or not?  Also, I can't imagine that other insurance companies are any less careful when it comes to deciding who to cover...
