What do i need to do. It is a 360 with the 727 out of a 75 truck. i want to get this running until i get the big block 727 and the 440 going.

I know i need to change the oil and stuff but should i use a break in oil? i would assume yes but i don't know what kind and should i change my trans fluid and diff fluid? thanks in advance guys.

If its a used engine there's no need for break in oil, since the cam should be broken in already.

I'd say new oil like you said, new plugs, new oil filter. Get yourself a priming tool, check the timing before you remove the distributor, prime the oil pump while slowly turning the crank till you get oil at the rockers.
Then put your distributor back in where it was before. Then pour fresh gas in the carb and give her a go.

You also might want to feed the mill out of a jerrycan if the engine is still in the car since the fuel in the tank is probably only  good for cleaning purposes.
Make yourself a remote starter button so you can start it standing in front of the engine.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

What oil would you use I've for delo 1 5 40 says zinc wt% .148 don't know what that converts to ppm.

Oil choices would be brad Penn or Joe Gibbs.  This also depends on availability and what you want to spend.

Even after sitting this long without being ran?

And how about the trans. It's a s/b 727 out of a 74-75 truck. Fluid type?

Dino

Any auto trans fluid is fine.  I got mine at Autozone on sale, red valvoline jug.  No need for break in oil for an engine that's already broken in, just follow what six-tee-nine said and you'll be fine.

Does the crank still turn freely?  If it is frozen up you might want to put some mystery oil down the spark plug holes and let it soak for a couple of days.
MoPar -- The only way to fly!

BROCK

For me:  Step 1:  does it turn freely with a breaker bar by hand.  Priming the oil system first is a good idea!  I just want to know that the engine isn't locked up before going to the trouble of priming.  So, best of both worlds would be to make sure the crank isn't completely stuck.  If it moves a little in both directions, prime the oil system with fresh oil & then rotate the crank by hand several times to feel for any irregularities.

ok thanks guys sorry haven't been on for a few days had a death in the family. I will mess with it more tonight or tomorrow. And I can't find the other oils mentioned below the brad penn or joe gibs so what's the best standard oil I can get from say AutoZone? how about the zinc additives?
