Two piece console question

I thought there was already a thread on this, but, I can't find it.

Is the two piece console model or year specific?   I'm referring to those with small detachable rear section.
Logic tells me it was 66-67 and was detachable for the full length charger setup, but, did it make it to second gens?

The 2nd gen consoles were one-piece.
I have a 2-pc one in my '69, though. Got a good deal on it used, so in it went. Pretty much the same except for the 2-piece design.

67 also has the same console as the 2nd gen (other than a hole cut in the compartment for a light that was "decontented" for 68).  1966 is the only year for the two piece full length one.
