Did Chrysler use a light or medium argent on these?

I'll copy & paste my old post. for those not interested in a spray can but a spray gun :scratchchin: :shruggy: LEON.

My info says the paint code for 1968 is Aluma-Hide Silver #DX-85555. In 1969 they call it Argent Silver but still #DX-8555. For 1970 they call it argent silver but different #8355. 1971 has 2 different silvers, A argent silver# DX-8555 & a Medium Textured argent silver # DNA-8575. The description for use does not specifically say for grills but mentions other items LEON.

So how do you formulate the stuff with modern paints?

Some places can still mix it in Laquer, at least some of the places I know can but it's getting difficult. LEON.

HeavyFuel

I used this....it was spot on.

Ghoste

No laquer around here thats why I was wondering about modern paints.

hemi-Hampton, just to be clear, you say, 1968 Aluma-Hide Silver #DX-85555 then for 1969 they call it Argent Silver but still #DX-8555 are these the correct number of 5's?
Then 1971 has an Argent Silver #DX-8555 the same # as the 1969 Argent Silver #DX-8555.
I guess my question is about the number 5, one two many or one to less? Thanks for your double checking of these numbers for me.
I'd just like to be sure of the #'s.

OK, I double checked my old PPG book. Yes, I added one to many 5's to that 68 Aluma Hide. Should be #DX8555. Sorry for any confusion. LEON.

SEM Bumper Coater 39283 Light Titanium Metallic is a dead ringer.

dkn1997 agrees, or did six years ago :icon_smile_big:

sem titanium metallic paint is a dead ringer match for the silver that was on an original 69 driver's side headlight bucket that I bought.  This grill was original and had factory paint on it.

Bull how's the SEM paint holding up?  Did you add a satin clear to it?  Just asking because their trim black is a bit sensitive.  I do like their paints though.

I'd like to redo my grille this summer, it's looking pretty sad.
