Very cool story on the Charger, I always liked that car but the way Doug had it setup was a bit disappointing at best.  I never saw it run any respectable time with all the parts he threw at it. It's in the proper hands now so it can live another day.  I was only 11 in 69 but followed ever and any "Hot Rod" in the streets that I could.  Brooklyn streets were lined with Horsepower in the 60-70's. It was easy to eyeball and touch Hemi this and LS-6 that on my way to school as a kid.
Chris should be taken out back and water-boarded for posting this picture and then getting upset when it started a "discussion" :brickwall:
Ron

Ronnie, waterboarding is quite harsh.   :slap: ..the reason for the "putting the brakes on" was to avoid scaring away a potential new member, which happens more often than not around here as of late :rotz:

After careful thought I believe you are right! I now say no to "Water Boarding" but yes to take you out back and have you watch as I lean on your car! :hah:

TUFCAT

I'm guessing he'd rather have the water boarding....!  :icon_smile_wink:   :smilielol:

Fantastic story, even if it came out due to (Someone we won't mention causing many to shit their pants, scream and explode through their fingers onto their keyboards), (CHRIS)......

Maybe (((CHRIS))) can make it up to you by teaching you how to shrink pics to fit here on DC.COM so you can post up what you are doing with the car and keep your incredible story going on here as well as home...

Welcome and don't let any of these knuckleheads bust your chops. This is, for some reason, a bad time of year for people to freak out over nothing.. We mods try to keep it all together. "Well, other than (((CHRIS))) this time". But I think he had you posting up more in mind, so I will give him a pass.. (Now that I have "KEYBOARDED" him!! ;)

Still, I was just reading a great posting from ages ago with Doug putting in the sub-frame connectors and wondering what he's done lately.. SO WHAT HAPPENED TO DOUG??  :shruggy:

Enjoy,,,,,,,,,,

Doug is ok I believe it was time for him to sell her , I also know he has the other car in the future plans , but he is ok . I am happy he sold the car it was taking so long for him to give in to my relentless pestering ...lol
As far as my friend (((chris))) he posted the salty hemi pics and I then was forced joined DC to defend what was being said , I'm not a forum guy never joined any , I am the last to give a crap about negative comments Ect...
But it was the situation and I needed to explain didn't want judgements passed.
Either way everyone has a opinion and that's life .

As far as the changes I have made all were made to make the car useable and reliable some issues included no heat , gearvendors OD hardwired wasn't safe , no E brake , fuel delivery issue ,throttle linkage and cable mis adjusted, old wires , cap had severe carbon tracking center contact was nearly MiA .
The entire car was rewired , msd digital was installed and hidden , thermostat temp raised to 190 ,plug swap from Autolight to NGk temp swap as well new repro stock wires installed cap rotor Ect... Fluid changed , salt removed , some suspension changes the rest were all small so far .

As far Quarter mile times doug ran high 11s/ 12.0s @ 116 mph which is good for mid 11s which I thought was odd always when I watched the videos on the car over and over again lol .
I knew there were little issues in the cars performance after owning it though it was fast my SBF would have gave it a ass kicking .

I wanted a baseline with myself driving it and then make changes little by little so off to etown we went
The best I ran (before any changes excluding engine oil and a throttle cable adjustment and carb adjustment) the car of 2 runs best of 11.54 @ 118 and packed her up went home began raining.
I then did the mentioned changes plugs , timing Ect..along with a smaller tire (diameter which I also used in the baseline) as opposed to the slicks he used I believe where 29" bit large IMO  went back --netted a best of 1 pass of 11.42@121 noticed it still nose diving at high rpm I thought it was either fuel or ignition .
I then ran Q16, timing change,  :hah: found a significant fuel delivery issue, dropped tire pressure, bumped rev limiter, clutch adjustment , suspension adjustment shocks and torsion bar preload and we were on track now we were at 11.29 @124 but I had to chill....
As hard as it was to stop beating a hemi car up there I was getting really crazy wanted it to go faster and faster and she had it in her too , but I knew I had too stop not knowing fully what was in the engine I didn't want to grenade it .
Considering this cars a low compression pump gas stock manifolds inline intake eddie carbs she's good for what she has I know she has more in her without headers and major work .

:icon_smile_dissapprove: Unfortunately the end of the season I was at a show and the engine developed a slight chirping sound I ruled out water pump , alternator , fuel pump , dist gear , dist bearing , oil slinger rubbing cover Ect....killed each cylinder one by one to rule out wrist pins,  I believe it's a roller lifter needle bearing , I most likely will be pulling the engine out and going through it and changing what I don't like , quick clean up here and there and hopefully have her back for the spring .

I also am not sure what I make of the caltracs yet ...though I like the way they look  :yesnod:
Subframe connectors are nice I would have personally did them differently but....
Gearvendors is a god sent for a 4:10 car or any car my god it is a beautiful thing after installing tremecs in customers cars for the 5/6 the gear ...not for me ....the unit is nearly indestructible rated at 1000 hp behind a NP 833 , clean install what's better than that 4/speed whine it's small and carries full warranty 3 years .
What's not to love maybe the price he paid for it but that's it ...

Hope to get some more posts up soon thanks guys

Low 11's is really moving down the 1320!  :icon_smile_wink:

You do know that Chrysler never expected them to go that fast right?  :D

For a hemi car with manifolds that's a very respectable performance  :yesnod:  Uncorking the exhaust is a major advantage over wedge engines (I think you know that).... but I also think you're doing just fine!  :2thumbs:

Steve P.

It all sounds good. I think you'll like the Caltracs once you dial them in and have a good feel for them. I really like the frame connectors. What is it you don't like or would change? Also agree on a bit smaller diameter tire. Either that or more gear. I am not a fan of the Edelbrock carbs though.. Never have been....

It's been a long time since I remember any updates before you got the car, but I do know he was busting his ass all the time on the car.... I don't know any 2 racers or mechanics that totally agree on anything.. What works well for some just doesn't for others....

Keep us posted on what you are doing and what you find... Most everyone here knows the car, so we all have a vested interest in the direction it goes..

More than anything else, enjoy it!!!!

Especially in a two ton plus car with the dimensions of a Galaxie or Impala.

Edelbrock carbs are great for a cruiser or occasional trip to the track IMO .
I am aware they can be tweaked and tunes for power but that being said you will not achieve full potential .
Honestly that car pulls hard now upstairs and down low I know with a lil messing around it can go low 11s maybe a 10.99 I truly think it has it in it , when you split a gear with the vendor unit it's like a freight train just keeps pulling on WOT .

As far as the subframes I like the full box inside the channel but do not like the way it loosely contours the floor pans but other than that they are very functional and very clean welds ,will remain in place.
Tire size was a gain for the car I didn't run a slick but a old Bfg Drag radial hooks ok has enough spin that she doing bog at all , I tried to feel her out on the street to see where she needed to leave without roasting the tires .

So far with only a few passes I am please with the performance gains I am a lil upset about the engine noise but it's to be expected I knew what Doug did with the car and I was prepared he never mislead me into anything not to mention the qtr extensions have more rubber stuck to them than the tires have ! LoL

I 100% enjoy all the fin I have had already !
Any shirts decals available still any kids size too??

Hey thanks for the cool comments .

A little tip.

Do you see the name of one of your photos is "heaterbox5".  The name of the photo can now NEVER be used again.  I'm surprised that name hadn't been used yet.  A new window will pop up saying that photo is being used, yada, yada, yada.
What you have to do when that happens is rename the photo & start over.  Rename it something like "heaterbox5555".

And when I say start over, start over.  Copy any text you may have & go back, here's where you're starting over.  Re-enter the text & try posting your newly named photo.  It'll get frustrating if the new name is also being used.  I try to make sure it doesn't happen again so I'll name it something whack like "justsayno2trailersssssssssssssssssssssss69" or "TUFCATdoesnthaveanyballs"

I'm just glad I didn't have to explain myself.

Nothing worse than having to explain your humor.  It's so nice to see someone besides myself gets it.

My 2nd choice was "TUFCATisapussy".
So is it lots of fur or small nuggets.   ;)

TUFCAT

Both. :'(   I'll have to save the slideshow for later..... programming format does not allow.  :D
