Original Hemi's sure are a lot of $$$$

Yeah, but this one could be a tad on the "I'm not all that serious about selling it" side.  :icon_smile_wink:

Isn't that about 100K heavy??????
Ron

For a fake car, I'd say that it's about 165 large too heavy.

6bblgt

There was a re-bodied "turbine bronze" '68 HEMI R/T out of WI a few years ago, it was on eBay at the time advertised as a "rebody" apparently someone forgot.  :RantExplode:  I should have the VIN info and pics, somewhere.  :scratchchin:

ws23rt

Looking at this beautiful car brings to mind the future.  With cars like this pushing originality to the side will we see cars like this ending up on par with the real deal?
Or will it make the real cars worth just that much more?
It soon may take a CSI investigation to establish a pedigree.

Ghoste

I don't think they'll ever equal the real deal.

ws23rt

Surly they won't.  I was wondering about future collectors.  There will be at least two kinds.  Those that want the real deal and those that want something to play with.
A restoration that goes to the last detail becomes something that if used/driven will be degraded.
I am impressed at the lengths some will go to create a museum piece and it in fact is just a copy. :shruggy:

I wouldn't say that. It is VERY presentable; it's just not  a true hemi car.

In my area those two types of collectors have been prolific for years in all makes/models.

So is their a market for what it takes to make a car like this?  If it is advertised as a copy the buyer knows what they are looking at.
It may be the future that a car like this can pay off for the investor but not a good bet.

On eBay openly admitting it was rebodied & IIRC it was a $60K car, now that fact is conveniently forgotten & "prest-O change-O" $225K  :2thumbs:

The collectors here that build these cars as clones(NOT REBODIES), drive them and are not concerend with a profit, it is for mere enjoyment.  Their matching, correct cars basically sit in their stables and rarely are ever seen.  These guys have Ferraris/Lambo's/Maserati's/Bentley's as daily drivers, hard to believe but true.  Not my cup of tea but to each is own.  I never looked at any of my cars as an investment, if I did, it would take all of my enjoyment of them away.

six-tee-nine

I cant understand why they want to build a car like that wich has absolutely nothing custom to it and then stuff a '70 shifter in it....
Greetings from Belgium, the beer country

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Ghoste

This one is no clone though, it has the "J" in the VIN and it isn't for sale cheaply.  It's being passed off as a legit Hemi car but it seems to be missing some things thus the question of if its a rebody.

Homerr

Seems so odd that someone would take all the time and effort to do a rebody and not at least try to add the torque boxes (they didn't know about them??).

And the pistol-grip...for an attempt at a high dollar price with a 'correct' car just seems sort of silly.

I agree with you completely.

moparchris

Post has been deleted/  Either someone went to look at it and educated him or ... I hate to even think of the other option.  I've lived in the Phoenix area for 41 years and have never seen or even heard about this car.  It must have been imported to the area.  Too bad he never had it next to my 500.  I could have given him a quick but painful tutorial.
If someone has that kind of dough I'd sell them my 500 pretty quickly.... Like before the ink dries on the bills :yesnod:

bigdsul

Probably taken down so the seller can post on eBay.

This is one of the reasons why its so hard for buyers to find what they are looking for. Buyers need to educate themselves just so they don't wind up with a overpriced knock off.

It's a beautiful car and a lot of work went into its restoration but that car is no where near worth what the seller is asking.

THE RARITY AND COLLECTABILITY OF THIS 1968 DODGE CHARGER RT MAKES IT AN EXCELLENT INVESTMENT, THESE HEMI POWERED CHARGERS ARE ONE OF THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER MUSCLE CARS ON THE PLANET!

the stuff in bold stuck out to me. sounds like all that was left of this car was some of the frame and floor, maybe the car was a roll over or had severe damage and all they could use was the floor and frame. but then the torque boxes should've been there in the other posting. i think I'm gonna give up on understanding how this car came to be and just hope no one gets burned on it.
who is david wise? did he know of the other possting before it had torque boxes, or did he inform the seller they were missing.
