My name is Ivan and I work for Fluidampr both in Sales and with our engineering department performing TVA (torsional vibration analysis) at various OEM's, engineering firms and with many top engine builders around the world.

First, please let me address the issue with Paul. When Timothy (Ranger Max) called the other day, I happened to be sitting right next to Paul during the conversation, not a lie, truth, and I heard Paul offering the options we offer for returning used units (not to mention over 10 years old). In mid-sentence I hear Paul hang up the phone and I, always paying close attention to our customer service calls while working, asked what just happened. He further explained while relaying our "trade in offer" for this unfortunate situation he was hung up on. I cannot stress enough that here at Fluidampr we are a family owned company that manufactures 100% Made in the USA products and take nothing, nothing, more serious than our customer service. Customer service is the basis for survival and not enough companies understand this philosophy in this day and age. Now back to the call... After the call Paul almost instantly called our Senior Sales Mgr., himself and I in for an immediate meeting to address Ranger Max's concerns. We came to a consensus that this was indeed unfortunate and we would stand behind our trade in offer. I ask this, how many other companies would take 30% off the price of a new product in exchange for product that is over 10 years old, regardless of the amount of use the product has endured? This is not part of our warranty process, we do this exchange to allow customers with old units that may be worn or obsolete to upgrade at a significantly discounted rate.

Now to set product facts straight. Fluidampr is a division of its sister company, Vibratech TVD, who invented the viscous damper is 1946 for heavy duty diesel engines. In the early 80's we were approached by top engineering firms to bring our dampers to the performance aftermarket. Vibratech TVD continues to be an OEM supplier today. Although I cannot discuss in depth our OEM accounts, I can tell you that viscous dampers are found OEM on over 90% of heavy duty diesel engines. In addition, they are found OEM on current Dodge Cummins engines and many flagship applications such as Audi R8, Lamborghini Gallardo, McLaren M838T, Ford GT 40 and multiple Ferrari applications. Would any of these OEM's use viscous dampers if they broke cranks, wore bearings, etc.? The reason OEM's use elastomeric type units are because they are cheaper to manufacture and will be sufficient through the warranty period. An OEM damper is designed for that engine the way it comes from the factory. You start changing aftermarket parts and you change where the natural frequencies occur. This will often overwork the stock damper and why they eventually fail and separate grenading the front of the engine. When you get into $100,000 plus vehicles they are using viscous. Again, I currently work performing TVA and test all types of dampers and pulleys on many different applications in all market segments. The fact is Fluidampr and ATI are so far ahead of the competition it is not even close. Cheap OEM and aftermarket dampers will fail and do not have the design capability to withstand performance modded vehicles.

As far as Nascar is concerned they use our competitors product for more reasons than meets the eye. One, elastomeric dampers are tuned dampers for a specific frequency range of harmonics. Nascar engines typically operate at 8000-9000 RPM's for 3-4 hours which you probably know. What you likely do not know is that Nascar teams rebuild their ATI dampers after every single race to replace the rubber O-rings that are worn out after the extreme punishment and heat they endure over this 3 hours. I know this because I myself have worked with Nascar teams and was told such by their lead engineers. Again, I cannot sit here and bash ATI as I am speaking from results based on actual testing. Again both dampers are far superior to any other on the market. If you want a tuned rubber damper get the ATI. If you want a broad range damper that is not frequency specific and able to adapt to any engine modifications I recommend the original viscous damper, Fluidampr.

Scat, true they advise against using Fluid type dampers. Did you also know that they manufacture and sell their own elastomeric damper? Why endorse a product that is not in the best interest of your company’s bottom line?

Almost all that bash Fluidampr is through hearsay, it is always something similar to "I heard from a friend". And true you will find many who have an opinion about the product but as I frequently research the topic, never see any direct evidence of claimed failures, reason being it is simply not true. Do crankshafts have failures, sure they do. Is it due to Fluidampr, no. Do crankshafts with ATI have failures, sure they do, is it due to ATI, no. I can guarantee one fact... many more crankshafts have been broken not using Fluidampr than have broken using Fluidampr. In motorsports we are constantly looking for more power, more torque, eventually parts break. Nature of the beast, but to try and pin it on a successful manufacturer of a product for nearly 60 years is just not true.

I am always available to help educate and understand torsional vibrations and damper solutions. Please feel free to reach me anytime at ivan.snyder@fluidampr.com

Thank you for taking the time to read.

IT ENDURED 0% AND LOST 70% OF ITS VALUE

Ya people that buy a torn up one get better deals than someone that paid full price

I Hoped this would not get this out of hand Timothy, I really did.

However, I am not lying. I called the phone number listed on the bottom of your email and a woman answered, I remember as I wasn't sure how to pronounce your last name. Whether you believe me is your issue, perhaps I should of left a message but what's done is done. Could it of been handled better? I believe so. I apologize for this situation.

If you want to continue this conversation, please feel free to email me as this thread is going nowhere.

Pleased to meet everyone here on the forum, any questions regarding Fluidampr please feel free to contact Ivan or myself.

Good day
