How do the carpet pieces for a 4-speed console attach to the console? The 4-speed carpet kit has one large piece more than the auto kit. I understand that the large piece covers the plastic/cardboard side piece but what about the carpet piece that is used on the left side on auto consoles? Does it go under the plastic hump cover?

Get one of these: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=mopar+4+speed+console&view=detail&id=D4D8C08CF3ECC7AC2C055E82A5489D6DD619EEEF&first=43

Glue the biggest chunk of carpet in your kit to it and then attach it to the side. Trim as needed.

Nevermind. At first I thought you were working on a 4 speed car.

I believe your answer is yes? The console has carpet on both sides and a piece underneath at the back. The 4-speed "hump" cover gets a 4th, large piece. You can see some detail here in AKCharger's 4-speed swap thread:

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Try this, it may give you some good ideas, good luck!

It shows a 4 speed and automatic console differences.  The 4 speed does have an extra piece to cover the hump.  I have included a picture so you can see how the carpet looks.
The console on a 4 speed has 7 holes for attaching the carpet/chrome trim, whereas the automatic console has 5 holes.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Here's the auto kit:

and the 4-speed kit:

as you can see the 4-speed kit contains all the parts from the auto kit plus one large extra piece. The middle piece in auto kit is for the left side of the console - it is also included in the 4-speed kit but why when it is covered by the plastic side piece that attaches to the console? Or where does the piece on the right side of the 4-speed kit go?

the middle piece is for auto console, if yours is a 4spd, leave the center piece off, it's not used. They include all pieces for auto & manual trans so they don't have to stock 2 different part numbers for the kit
